Dashon Goldson

Not sure whether you are aware of this, but Dashon Goldson is currently ranked one of the worst safeties in the league right now. You are probably just thinking about his hits back in the day. Check this out:

The scary thing is he is not just bad in coverage, but he is equally bad in run D.

He's been horrible in coverage and run support pretty much all season. Pretty much still sucks for all the same reasons he sucked at TB.

Its not just one pick.. look up the dudes stats. Hes racked up double digit tackles in multiple games this yr.. watch the tape and give credit where its due

What does that prove? Dude misses plays and whiffs on players for the big hit constantly. You can't play safety like that anymore, got to me smart looking to pass break ups...if Goldston wants to play like that pack on some pounds and become a LBer.

Here's how I see it, if the Safety's trait is to lay the hammer and make receivers think twice, then it is expected that there may be some coverage deficiencies. If a FS does not lay the hammer and misses a tackle here or there, then he better damn will be awesome in coverage.

Goldson is real damn good at the thing he's expected to be good at.

Reid is not real damn good at the thing he's expected to be good at.

LOL i shoulda known, Guy gets one lucky bounce for a Pick 6 all of a sudden he should be in the probowl.

We all know Goldson's coverage was never great, but it wasn't terrible. he had a great run with us because of what he had around him.

He wasn't worth what he wanted to get paid, and definitely not worth what he was in Tampa.

Don't get me wrong i was always a Goldson fan, and was bummed to see him go, but he isn't a TOP safety in this league.

At least he's gotten better about he hits other players.

huh ? Reid's first concussion was in the second regular season game of his career.

Reid is what he is. his instincts arent as good as many people have thought. on college film you could see his problems he's struggling with on the 49ers as well.
it's simply that safety play hasnt been as magnified with a great defense with a potent pass rush and best LB core in the league.
but theres a reason 49ers take him out of FS and often play him as a SS.

with that said, he's still miles better than Goldson. All Goldson could do is hit hard. Even as a SS, you can't be just a hard-hitter in the league anymore. At FS, it's simply unacceptable.

I get that, on the other hand do you really want guys to lay off and possibly give up a huge play?

Why hasn't anyone posted hit Reid layed on Jimmy Graham earlier this year.

Reid seems to get burnt a lot and deep. I don't care for either Reid or Goldson. Ward is the future.

Goldson is better hit hard than Reid. Reid cant hit hard on guy. Reid had always is consusion and missed tackles that aweful. Reid is suck a defense player!
