I just came across something that made me realize the patriots could realistically have won only 1 out of 5 SBs they've been in since 2001. In their last SB win against Philly the Eagles starting TE Chad Lewis was out for the game after injuring his foot in the NFCCG. T.O. was by far the most dynamic and dangerous receiving weapon but Lewis was the key to Philly's passing game. He was a very productive TE that season and their most effective red zone threat so I think it was a huge loss for them in the SB, especially since TO had only come back from injury a few weeks prior. It's all history now but I'm positive McNabb & Co. would have at least 1 ring if Lewis had played that game.
Couple the loss of Chad Lewis in that Super Bowl with the Pats alleged filming of the Rams walk-through in 2002 and it's highly probable they lose both their 1st and 3rd SB's of the Brady era. P.S. the bogus tuck-rule call vs. Oakland was lucky as hell in propelling Belecheat/Brady to their first ring.

The irony...

Pats only team to win back to back SB since the start of salary cap/parody... Cawks trying to become 2nd team to do so... Pats stand in their way.

Cawks want to repeat. Belicheat/Brady don't want 3 SB losses, now do they...

The "Cheat Bowl"

May the best Cheaters win (GO PATSIES)
I think We are in for another year of dreadful bandwagon C chump fans bragging about their team. Pats cannot stop lynch and Wilson will run circles around them. Just look what GB did to the pats. I hope I'm wrong!
Seattle 24-13

My main reason is NE OL has trouble with speed. Avril, Bennett and Irvin will cause havoc. Combine that with the best secondary in football, the D line should get the time to hit Brady and disrupt his timing. Yes Brady has weapons, but let's see how they respond when Kam lays a few hits on them. Kam set the tone with that hit in the SB last year.

You're right about the bold...

Pats played Packers in a close, hard fought game. That game was in Green Bay when Aaron Rodgers was healthy (not playing with gimpy calf).
A dose of reality about this game. NE is no juggernaut. They could easily lose this game. There's no way they blow the Hags out. SEA defense is too good and too experienced. And the NE defense is not good enough to shut SEA down. SEA will be able to move the ball. A time will come late in the game where the Pats will have to put together a successful drive in a pressure situation when the game is on the line. Unlikely that the Pats will be able to sit on a lead late in the game without scoring points and come out on top.
Patriots need to throw some trick plays out there, believe they will & will catch peacocks off guard

I can't see NE winning unless their running game is effective. I think NE's defense actually matches up to Seattle's offense pretty nicely, but NE won't be able to score if Brady has to throw 50 passes. They have to establish the run.

I think the NE defense is the key to the game. That's still an unknown to me. SEA plays the best D's in the league(SF,AZ, ST Louis) and they are able to move the ball when they have to. Shutting SEA down in the 4th quarter is always a problem. The GB pass rush was tired and non existent toward the end of the game. I'm waiting to see a defense come up big against SEA when the game is on the line.

Yeah, but the reverse is true too.

The 2007 Patriots were undefeated, clearly the best team in the league that year. Moss had the best year of his career, Brady was unbelievably efficient, etc... If it wasn't for David Tyree's ridiculous "helmet catch", they probably lose that game. Really, that entire play was very improbable -- Manning was nearly sacked, and -- by his own admission -- he just heaved up a prayer to Tyree, who wasn't even "open". On this same drive, Asante Samuel also dropped a gimme interception:

Also, same thing with the 2012 Super Bowl. The throw/catch by Manningham near the end of the game was insane -- that probably changed the entire game right there:

Anyway, football is a game of inches. I think New England easily could've won five, and I also totally see your point, they also could've won only one. The sword swings both ways. Honestly, the fact that they've made five Super Bowls in such a short stretch in the salary cap era is pretty remarkable in itself.
Anyone wearing niner gear tomorrow? Seems kinda appropriate, especially since I'm rooting against the hawks

That's my take too. Seattle will win if they bring a consistent pass rush. They'll lose if they don't. And remember - they didn't bring s**t against the Packers two weeks ago and should have lost lolz.

They lost a lot of depth on the d-line. No more:

Red Bryant
Clinton McDonald
Chris Clemons
Brandon Mebane
Jeremy Hill

NE can counter of course, by getting the run game going. Gonna be fun to watch.

Well I remember SB 39 and I can tell from the way the Eagles played that they were just happy to be there despite them scoring the games first TD which I thought would have played into the Pats heads considering that they scored the first TD's in their previous 2 super bowls.

The rams had success running the ball against them with Faulk but Martz wanted to try to demolish the passing records in the super bowl which is what hurt them. 38 as well you could have said because of how the Panthers fought back to take the lead. Pats could have fallen apart after that but were just mentally too tough.

True, they didn't do well against the Packers, but I can't let one game sway what I saw from them when they were healthy the last part of the season. NE's O line had problems with Hali and Houston (yes it was in KC) and T Sizzle. Seattle's speed rushers are almost at their level. Now if NE establishes the run, Seattle's D line will get worn out by the 4th.
I think Wagner can be an X factor with his speed against Blount and Brady's short passing game. He's their version of Bowman.
