The NFL is not a great humanitarian organization that only cares about the welfare of others. It's entertainment + $ + competition all rolled into one. They will always try and ensure those three things exist together.
The 32 owners collective thoughts are reflected by the commissioner. It is what it is.

The NFL has become watered down and sissified! It is hard to watch with all the flags. Goodell's new NFL should be called Ref Ball, because that is all I see!

if it dont change Aldon's suspension then dont curr.
Even if a policy changes that could reinstate Aldon's case, it won't happen before the 9 games thats for sure.

That bullS**t PC press conference just made me hate Goodell and the new brand of NFL even more. I just don't know how much of these lies they expect us to belive. Wish he would do the right thing and go away. But that's not going to happen, he's harder to flush down the toilet than a floater

I've definitely soured on the product pretty significantly recently. In just 2 games we've had multiple atrocious game altering plays called against us, and the 49ers are just a single team. If Dallas hadn't imploded early on, we could be sitting at 0-2 because of these phanton calls. I'm honestly sick of having to control my enthusiasm for 5 or 10 seconds after an awesome plays happens because I'm expecting some sort of flag to bring it back. That s**t's completely destroying the flow of the game.
I used to be pining for the games all week long, and honestly, spending way too much time reading articles and getting emotionally invested. I'm going to watch this weekend, but I'm not excited about the game whatsoever. It feels like instead of the team that makes more plays wins, it's now the team that makes less mistakes and gets the lucky break with the refs. Maybe fans of other teams don't feel the same way, but we've been completely fisted by the refs so far, and it's frustrating.

You're not the only one. Truth be told, I might not even watch the game on Sunday. I've just been apathetic on this entire season.

I feel the same way, the games just haven't been fun to watch. I hope it changes this week, but if it keeps going this way I probably wont watch live games anymore.

Reading OTL article just confirms what I've suspected all along. NFL is a sham. Favoritism , biased rulings , backroom deals.
Not to mention the purposely cooked up bad officiating which I feel robbed us of one Lombardi and kept us from another SB appearance.
I'm starting to wonder why am I watching this crap? I no longer get any enjoyment from these games and takes away time better spent elsewhere.
But I love my niners, have for 45+ years but don't see us wining another championship the way things are rigged in today's NFL

Changing rules and/or placing more emphasis on holding always brings a certain amount of inconsistency until all the refs can review their games and see how they need to adjust.
Right now the NFL seems afraid to take on teams individually for these infractions, they make blanket statements. For instance, in reviewing Seattle's tendency to hold they could have issued a warning to the team and told the refs to keep an eye on them. This was done years ago to certain teams that tried to circumvent rules with cleavor plays. The niners were warned about leg whips by OLmen in the 80s and had to cut down on the practice.
The NFL is struggling with all kinds of major issues right now that might overwhelm any commisioner. My top four:

The NFL is struggling with all kinds of major issues right now that might overwhelm any commisioner. My top four:
- Disciplinary system (too much power in one man's hands?)
- Drug testing/use
- Concussion legal issues
- Officiating changes/problems
Solutions?
- Review committee made up of players, coaches and ?
- Testing needs to be done but I'm torn--injured players can be helped so much by drugs that might then be abused.
- This will/has change(d) the game and many are mad at this--tamer game, fewer violent hits, more penalties. But it has to happen.
- Professional refs...more training and video review as the game is played may help.

I have no problem with the helmet to helmet hits, or the lunging at defenseless players, that's all good since those protect the players. But some of the ticky tacky rules they added, has nothing to do with preventing injuries, more to do with making the game more about offense. Hands to the face, that little nudge that defenders used to give the WRs, trash talking, putting your hand on a WR after 5 yards, these penalties have nothing to with keeping players safe.

I hate that it has come to his with so many of us previously super die-hards, but it really isn't much of a sporting contest any more.
