My glaring problem with Greg Roman is his inability to make 2nd half adjustments, or to put it more bluntly ... make adjustments on the fly.
He is great when he's given ample time to prepare for an opponent, but we have seen it time and time again ... the 49er's inability to score points in the 2nd half.
Coincidentally that's when most games are won or lost.
In regards to him getting hired, he may get hired as an Offensive coordinator by another team and let's face it, some team can't even generate enough points in the 1st half of the game ... but I would be shocked if he were hired as a Head Coach!
Maybe Jim Harbaugh finally saw the light and that's why he didn't bring him along to Michigan.
First of all, did you ever think that it was Roman that didn't want to go to Michigan instead of the other way around. IF that was the case, he made the right decision because there are a bunch of teams that are interested and it looks like his nfl career isn't over yet.
Now, on to the 2nd half adjustments. We were terribly bad this year in that department. However, this isn't Roman's 1st year as coordinator. We easily forget all the games we had to come from behind With Alex. Do you remember the Lions, Cincinati, Eagles, Giants (regular season), Seahawks (only Harbaugh win at Quest) and Saints games? With Kaep, Seattle twice, ( at home) , Arizona twice, NE, ATL,(playoffs) GB (the 2nd time in the playoffs).
This is just off the top of my head. This doesn't include the games we barely lost or the games we got close to winning but couldn't finish (I.e. The last game of the season the past 2 years) or the games we had a commanding lead and we didn't have to make adjustments.
Also, the players are also expected to make adjustments as well. Maybe, the fact that our offense was so successful in the 1st quarter this year COULD be a sign that the players excecute better plays that have been practiced all week, and don't execute as well "on the fly."
Finally, look at Keaps record at Nevada. He won some big games but also had bad games against teams he had no business having bad games against. Sound familiar? I mean how many in game adjustments do you honestly think NY, Wash, and Oakland were making?
Just some things to think about while you unload on the easy to pick on scapegoat on his way out the door.
