GREG ROMAN - A COORDINATOR FOR HIRE

Im clearly in the minority here, but I dont think Roman was as bad as many people make him out to be. I believe the problems lie with Kaeps s**ttyness, our s**tty possession receivers, and our offensive line being overrated for pass protection.

Per Matt Barrows, One team source said he analyzed all the plays that the 49ers ran from the opponent's 35-yard line and in and estimated the team wasted more than 100 points. The biggest culprit: Drops and missing open receivers.

The offense was decent except for his first and last year. His big problem was he clearly wanted to open up the offense, and he just didnt have the personnel.

I think youve got to blame Baalke more than anything.

Can't believe this guy is drawing this much interest. He's a college level OC at best. Pretty much everything an OC can do wrong he does. The final telltale is the fact that Harbaugh didn't want him in Ann Arbor.
Kap is more of a problem than roman. Roman can have success with a different QB.

People need to get out of the 49ers bubble and release you are overrating his level of badness. I am glad i am outside of SF and get outside perspective on things.

We go through this every year. Who do these players and coaches end up going to...Raiders, Browns, Bucs, Bills, college, etc. Crap teams and organizations that keep making the same mistakes over and over and over again.

You have a former pro bowl WR in Boldin, Lloyd, Johnson, and TE in Davis. Why aren't all these guys on the field at the same time more often? How is it that somebody like Davis was averaging 2-3 pass targets on the day?

You think Anthony Davis is the only player in the locker room to feel this way about Roman?

Where are all the positive articles or tweets from players defending Roman? Can somebody show me one? I saw plenty for Harbaugh and even Fangio.

What happened to Roman is that he brought a college offense into the NFL, and once teams caught on to it, he was too stubborn to change and evolve. And the things that actually worked in that offense (read, pistol) he stopped doing that completely for whatever f**king reason.

This has nothing to do with living in SF or wherever, if you watch the football games and somewhat stay on top of 49er news, it's not too hard to realize that Roman was a big issue this year.

Um he tried to evolve the offense this year and that was a complete disaster. Kap was clearly not ready to run it. He also stopped the read/option because defenses had figured it out.

Lol how did he try to evolve the offense this year? By throwing only 2 passes a game to Davis? or by playing Bruce Miller at WR? Because that's a hell of a evolution there.

And you're right, he did stop the read/option because defenses figured HIS out. Seahawks still run it, obviously not as much, but they still do it. Russel has had some big runs this year because of the read.

Even Frank Gore won't defend this guy, the same Frank that even defended Nolan at one point...that tells me enough. If a player actually cares about their coach, they will express it.
another big problem with roman was the red zone offense. maybe after like week 6 or so, you'd think he would try to throw the ball to his TE that got him 13 TDs the year prior...but no, he's gonna evolve the offense and not use vernon in the red zone anymore. pure brilliance there. i'm shocked that harbaugh didn't bring him along to michigan.

If you guys slow the video down, you can catch glimpses of roman running out on the field wearing both 49er and opposing colors to confuse kap's passing attack. I could never figure out why but it was diabolical,
THANK YOU RUBBERNECK

Addition by subtraction...

I do wish him the best of luck and success (somewhere else).

Kaepernick barely played in the preseason, so the fact that they were going to change and open up the passing game didn't help him with gametime preparation. Then they beat the Cowboys with Romo's contribution--3 picks. From then on it was a very awkward unsteady offense, sometimes looking good, often looking bad...but seldom being in sync for more than a series of plays. I can't think of a complete game for the offense this year...a complete half?

So...if you wanted Kaepernick to be prepared...would you play him a quarter or less each preseason game? Or would you try and get him as much experience in this new approach as reasonable...like a half each game? Each preseason game is a chance to see a different defense against your guys...something that would have helped Kaepernick. I defended the coaches at the time because I assumed CK was showing comfort in the offense during practice and didn't need the work...boy was I wrong!

Looking over the scores for the year, the niners barely outscored the 8 teams they beat...worse year than the 8-8 record indicates. Two wins by more than one score.

Dude got more interviews than fangio and Tomsula. .......... combined.
My glaring problem with Greg Roman is his inability to make 2nd half adjustments, or to put it more bluntly ... make adjustments on the fly.

He is great when he's given ample time to prepare for an opponent, but we have seen it time and time again ... the 49er's inability to score points in the 2nd half.

Coincidentally that's when most games are won or lost.

In regards to him getting hired, he may get hired as an Offensive coordinator by another team and let's face it, some team can't even generate enough points in the 1st half of the game ... but I would be shocked if he were hired as a Head Coach!

Maybe Jim Harbaugh finally saw the light and that's why he didn't bring him along to Michigan.
