big mistake playing him as a 250 lb olb. at that weight, he's weaker and less explosive...and he's nothing special in space. he's a get-upfield attack dog; and that is maximized with a physique engineered for power. get him to 270, and go from there. forget the emaciated look with this guy.
i agree 100%. this kid needs to be a 5 technique down the line. was a beeeeeeeast with the extra weight at ND.

I hope he bulks up a little and comes in for Brooks in passing situations. The speed with which Smith and Lynch would get to the QB would be scary if they play to their potential.

He ran a 4.6 40 at 252 pounds. Plenty athletic enough to play OLB. His off field problems weren't of the criminal variety, more a case of immaturity. As a recruit he had nearly identical test numbers (size/speed) to Clowney. They were the All Freshman DE choices in 2011. Houston is using Clowney as a LB, and he was 15 pounds heavier than Lynch at the Combine. He won't bulk up much, and will be used in an Aldon Smith/Ahmad Brooks role.

This is how I see his best fit as well and what a perfect situation to fall into (our locker room, veterans, learning from the two best OLB's in the game, the coaches, etc.).

I'm hoping we can trade the most promising cuts to other teams *other than* the seadderall seachickens.

I do like his measurables, and Fangio has a fantastic eye for pass rushing talent. I think that's why he plays the Lebeau zone blitz scheme. those highlight film of him at ND are pretty impressive.

Giedi, once the cuts are anticipated, you KNOW that trent will be on the phone getting a 2015 pick for a guy we are about to cut, but haven't announced it yet. Besides everything else, Trent is a master at getting other teams to give us a 2015 pick for a guy we are about to cut.

We are bringing him in to play OLB, not DE.

I'm sure if he makes the team, he will be used in our nickle packages as a DE.
He's 6-5+, with 34" arms and 10" hands. With a 1.52 10 yard dash. Just turned 21 recently. Unless he is a total head case, he should be at least a role player on defense.

I don't see much of a role for this kid as a rookie. Even in sub packages. Why would a completely unproven player get reps over lemonier, or skuta? Both players showed potential last season and have earned playing time. I like lynch. Dont get me wrong but measurables or not he's got a very long way to go and a steep learning curve.

Over Justin, Ray Mac and/or Tank?

The guy has tremendous physical gifts but a 10 cent head. If he can finally get it together mentally and grow up, he could be another mid round steal from this draft.

Yes! he did it twice last year and again in 2011 with one of our young safeties (I think). I am really hoping though, we develop a young QB behind Colin. For three reasons, depth and injury, and trade bait. I think since it is the most important position in any football team, you get the most bang for the buck, so to speak developing a QB and trading away a QB. I didn't expect two second round picks for Alex, and if either of our QB develop and are traded (I know it's a thread about Aaron and not QB's) you'd probably get more draft picks or higher draft picks than trading away a pass rusher (Cam Johnson comes to mind).
