Heh, if CJ does become a franchise QB (long shot, I know, and most likely he's just another backup) but if he (or one of our other Qb's) gets franchise QB cap money, every cap nickel will count. I really want to see CJ and the rest of our QB really utilize Hyde and the other RB's as weapons in this system. I remember Roger Craig and how he was so difficult to stop in the WCO. I want to see CJ and how he throws to the RB's on those difficult RB pass routes where he's moving away from the QB.
getting the ball to the backs in the passing game was a reason why CJ was brought here
No question. Take what the defense gives you...methodically. Go through your progressions. Sometimes the backs will be 4th in your progressions. Sometimes they will be first based on what you see pre snap based on defensive alignments. Sometimes they will be #1 based on the play call. There is no doubt, we will see a heavy lift of the short receiving game (+ Y/RAC) again focused around the slot WR, TE's, FB's and RB's again. It'll probably drive many of our fans crazy too. LOL. I'm fully prepared for a few million 'Captain Checkdown' gifs.

He should be more of a receiver than a RB this season in Kyle's system. Remember, receivers get special treatment in the NFL. Goodall says you can't hit receivers in the NFL.

Took me a while, but I found the RB pass route tree... I remember Roger killing teams with the "Swing Route" I think Carlos can do the same. This is one of the most difficult routes for a QB to throw on, because of the weird angle the QB and the RB are moving away from each other, the D LInemen putting their hands up, and the need for timing and anticipation and basically throwing blindly in some cases as the D Linemen are blocking the QB's vision.

Thl408 is pretty brilliant in his analysis. I can now see how moving the FB/HB to the slot position makes the offense more explosive under the new rules (ie can't touch receivers) In the Pro-set, the RB can get hung up on the LOS or held by the D Linemen, in the shotgun the slot receiver is free, although there is less pass protection for the QB because the RB has moved to the Slot WR position, the NFL rules also protect the QB to mitigate that danger. On top of that - the offense is more explosive and if the Defense cheats and goes nickel or dime, the FB/H-Back is still in the backfield as a run threat on draw and quick hitter plays. Also the FB/H-Back can also still run pass routes too. Very Nice!
