MM is 100% convinced Ward is the starting FS. There are just no words on this one.
Jimmy Ward is just a placeholder until they replace him in the draft next year. He's obviously showed some talent in practice for them to keep paying him to be hurt and only play some times. I see him as a DB who can contribute if not injured, but there is probably no one better to replace him with at the moment, we have bigger draft needs.

I hope they draft a hot shot rookie to replace him this year.. even if healthy. the thought of him playing this year should terrify everyone,
How many people would put money on Ward not finishing the season on the IR?
Ward will stay healthy....but he will get cut

you are wrong.. safety is a huge draft need, a 2 or a 3 should do. but if butler from state is there with the number two pick after we get a edge rusher. then take him and get the person at 3 that will be the person that will become what kyle lynch MM and a couple posters here had hoped ward would be. jesus. i am so tired of hearing. when healthy he contributes. no he does not. he is garbage through and through

in my opinion neither will happen
I've heard this narrative a thousand times from podcasts, beat writers and fans: "When Jimmie Ward is healthy, he's actually a pretty good player."

Ummmm, what Mandela Effect is this? Every time he's on the field he's been complete garbage.

I don't get where the thought of Ward being a good safety comes from. Sure that's his college position, but I haven't seen anything from his safety play that stands out. I still think his best spot is slot CB where he can use his athleticism to follow shifty slot WRs around and his physicality as a run defender from the slot. Putting him in space is not his strong suit.

I too and bewildered at why all his coaches have thought so highly of him.
We signed this guy as a FS, do you guys know how much HA-HA signed w/the Bears for a year??
I have a feeling ward is insurance if draft doesn't play out as planned or an amazing oT prospect falls too far and they can't ingnore it.. otherwise one of adderly or thornhill will be niner day 2
when was this guy ever good?

I can't remember if PFF even gave him good ratings either. And they're usually very generous with their ratings. Just look at how they fluff Arik Armstead's stats.
