Yeah, they have him outside and then slide inside to the slot. Rogers was good at that but I'm not a fan of it. The two roles/mindsets couldn't be more different.

Enough of this crap. Just put Robinson and Ward outside and keep them there.

Let Reaser, Johnson and Brock battle for the slot. Hell, call up the Prince and try him there!

haha oh man. people in here are STILL on the ward hype bandwagon??? thats too bad. i would have been happy picking ward.....with a secondary 2nd or 3rd round pick. with our only 1st round pick that year....hell no. another classic baalke pick, complete miss. tired of us picking chumps high while other teams get playmakers at the picks all around where we picked. if ward was worthy of where he got picked he would have been on the field making plays by the end of his first season at the latest.

Gave up two TDs yesterday. He's not that good. Just OK and certainly not playing like a 1st rounder after 3 years.

Starting secondary should be: Tartt at SS, Ward at FS and Robinson/Johnson at CB.

Dude got roasted today...solid player but not a differemce maker. And hes not an outside CB. The dude is a safety point blank. They tried putting him on the outside just to get him on the field but he's just not a full time cb.

That's just the problem. Our "best" players are mostly solid guys, no one that stands our, or is a game changer. This is exactly what are team is missing. We have the kind of guys that look better than playing next to elite talent. When you have a team of solid guys, terrible guys, and guys that don't belong on an NFL roster, that is a recipe for the kind of performances we get weekly.

Move him to safety or back to slot corner only IMO

There was this dude named Benwikere.. he was rated like a top 3-4 corner according to PFF. He played slot for Carolina they moved him outside the following year and got roasted game after game and got cut..

Not saying it's the exact same but let's put this guy where he belongs and see how he performs

I said the same thing. This coaching staff is trying to be too cute. He should've been left at playing the slot. I understand wanting your best players on the field but you can't force a position onto a guy. Ward is a solid player but it's no doubt in my mind that he was over drafted by Baalke. I hear guys praise Baalke for his db picks but our secondary is total garbage. We might have something in Robinson, and Ward is a good slot CB. That's about all the positives i got for this secondary. Reid and Bethea are both washed. Reaser, DJ, Brock, and Cromartie are all back up at best. Ward & Tartt are total question marks at safety. And Redmond is coming off major knee injury. All the picks in the secondary and on defense in general and the unit is in total shambles.

Seriously. Dude was a beast at FS. I don't mind him outside where he can focus 100% on that job. But asking him this year to play outside and then slide inside to the slot with NO safety help is just stupid IMHO.

For the love of God, just put him where we ALL know he's going to find the most success.
