Good trade. We have a solid locker room so it shouldnt be too much of a problem.

And if Culliver is returning to the locker room, so too can Martin.

The interesting dynamic would come from us possibly signing Nolan Carroll -- did he ever weigh in on the bullying issue? Or is he known "friend" of Martin?

so we've picked up 2 first round draft picks for a 6th and 7th. pretty good gambles if you ask me.

Harassment, assault both shouldnt be anywhere near the workplace, but everyone has there own ideas of right and wrong.

Harassment and assult is how the game is played, it's controlled violence. You beat the s**t out of the other guy until he quits. We're not talking about sitting in a cubicle, these guys are paid to hit other people everyday at work. Name calling should be the last thing that bothers you when people try to knock you out once a week.

And at what level to you does name calling and insults become a form of harassment, frequent text messages? Voice mails? getting hustled by your own team mates? Its not like it was juat s**t talk on the playing field. It was flat out harrassment. No matter how anyone wants to try to spin it its still wrong. Now if it was just talking s**t on the field I would agree and say maybe football isnt for Martin, but it wasnt just name calling and s**t talk on the field.

Because that 6th and 7th round pick could've have easily been traded for or used to draft some surefire Canton-worthy talent. Because that's how it works for every NFL team, except us.

That is true, but you still do not know what the motivations of his teammates were, do you?

I would like to think that my reaction to those idiots would have been different than the reaction of Martin.

But, I know that I have backed down when I have been outnumbered.

Martin was out numbered and those who were treating him like crap had the tacit if not explicit support of the position coach.

What counts now is that Martin is a 49er.

What will count in the future is how he plays for the 49ers.

Tell me about it. All we did was add depth at QB and OT which is what most 6th and 7th round picks only amount to anyway.

Where did you play the game?

When I played we were not allowed to treat our teammates like Martin was treated.

What we did to the opposing team was a different story, as long as we did not get caught.

edit: Violence is brutal.
I have a friend who was shot in stomach. He is paraplegic. Another beat so bad that he had to have two or three brain operations. It took him a year to learn to speak again. There is nothing glorious about violence.

Football is a game.

Football can almost be seen as an escape from the violence that all too frequently surrounds us.

Incognito and Pouncey didn't respect Martin. They treated him like s**t and tore him down on a daily basis. And it wasn't to toughen him up. It was because he wasn't a stereotypical black man. He was well-read Stanford grad who wasn't going to speak up for himself. In every way he was the perfect target for a group of children to return to the old playground days. I'm not going to lie. I have the prick bone in body too. The locker room is a work environment not a playground though. It's a job not a roman colosseum. So you can play it off as an overly sensitive guy who took some harmless taunting to seriously, but if you've read the report, and TRIED to understand the Martin side of the case it's pretty obvious he was trapped in a horrible situation with no way out.

LOL....at "toughen up." 3 of his teammates constantly harassed the s**t out of him non-stop, to the point where it became a negative to his performance on the field. Pretty sure he'll be able to get by just fine in the 49ers locker room without needing some douchebag who's been kicked off or ran off from every team he's ever been on to "toughen him up."

As if we can sit here, from a far, and determine what his teammates motivation.

Incognito has a relatively well documented history of being a complete and utter idiot.

Five people are in a room. Four of them are kicking the crap out of the other person.

Clearly, the guy being beat bears the responsibility for his own beating. Duh.

Thanks to both of you! Incognito's behavior is so well documented that it's impossible for me to understand those defending him or using him as a barometer for other players' character.

Some people feel more comfortable sticking to what they know.
