I agree, Garnett needs to play his natural position of LG to see if he can get it going. He'd also be sandwiched between to Pro Bowl players in Staley and Zuttah. My line would be Staley-Garnett-Zuttah-Kilgore_Brown, with guys like Gilliam, Beadles, Fusco backing them up, perhaps one more if we go with 9 OL.

Imo this line makes the most sense to me. On paper it actually looks pretty good with good depth as well. The versatility of this line is pretty cool actually.

We will likely go into the season with 9 OL imo. The versatility could allow us to only suit up 8 on game days though.

Bringing this out of the dead. Our boy seems healthy and might be a favorite to start at guard or Center.

Kilgore is a terrible player. Barely good enough to be on an NFL roster, much less a good starter.

He's not amazing he's not terrible either
He was played in a system he didn't fit in. He is more agile than powerful which is why he is a better fit for this offense.

Perhaps you dont understand the concept of a player, playing out of scheme?

He is weak in a power run game. I agree 100%...

But in a moving zone scheme he is ideal.

Yeah, I think he has been a reasonably solid player when he has been healthy. And you have to look at how well he will play compared to the other offensive linemen that are competing for a guard spot assuming Zuttah starts at center and Garnett gets one of the guard spots - Fusco, Beadles or Barnes. One of them may play well enough to start over Kilgore but I don't think any of them are very noticeably better than Kilgore. Given the people that are competing for the guard spots, just based on past performance I think Kilgore has a pretty good shot at being a starting guard.

Edit: I should add that I wouldn't be surprised if Kilgore becomes the starting center. I think I recall reading the Zuttah is having a leg problem and even if he isn't, I think Kilgore just might be able to outplay him. If Zuttah is fully healthy I think he will be the starting center, but I don't think it is a slam-dunk.

Agree

IMO, Kilgore will be very good coming off the bench and every team needs back-ups that can come right in and play.

Zu already has a heads up on scheme/protections playing under Kubiak. Zu simply "tweaked" his leg and is listed as questionable. Translation, he's just fine.

Well, well, well. My boy JBrack coming around to talk sense into some people. LG/RG, I think Kilgore starts at G and think he will be solid in the scheme. Also, this is probably the healthiest he's been since god knows when and he's in his prime. May the force be with us.
You are right SC, the health factor can't be underestimated. It gives him so much more scope to work. he is in his prime too so this should be his season.

Remember when Adam Snyder came around to giving a solid season.. then Boone emerging as well, hopefully Zu being our 2011 Goodwin.
Why not us!
never mind
