BTW, Im not saying sign Boldin to a multi million dollar contract, but like Gore, he is dependable. You don't just say "we are getting younger" and roll the dice to start the season. Its not fair to the fans or season ticket holders to put out a crap product in the name of YOUTH.
you do not give multiple years to old players like gore and boldin no matter how dependable you think they may be, that is bad business . how the hell do you know we have a crap product. i think its exciting we have some young kids, the cfl guy and probably a rookie. on march 28th you have already decided its a crap product. sheesh
No dude. Bad business is not doing everything you can to make a team better. Sitting on 55mm of cap space is bad business when there are ways to improve the team. "Getting younger" should not be the excuse for letting go of any and all players that have a decent salary and contribute to the team.
Good FOs find the balance between wining now and winning in the future. With your logic, we should just tank the next few years until we are "ready to compete."

Personally i think this roster is set to go through a transformation. I believe Baalke and York have bought in to Kellys system and will form the roster to that system.
I dont believe the team expects to be very competitive while the roster is rebuilt and recoached. If the team is rebuilding and expects to take a season or two to see any substantial amount of growth then using any money to improve the team this year would be detrimental to that rebuiling process.
So maybe try thinking of the long term plan. Imo the team not spending was the correct and prudent plan of action if we are indeed rebuilding.

Based on the state of the team I think the best course of action is to hope another team signs him and we get a low round compensatory selection in 2017

This+++.
Not only that, but its not like you are going to be giving Boldin a 5 year 100 mil extension. He resigns on a 2 year deal max, and you would be able to cut him next year without hurting your cap at all.

pretty quiet on that front. perhaps the niners are not the only ones who do not find a 35 year old wide out attractive. but of course its the niners so that means we are stupid and everyone else is smart

a one year deal at most with him in my opinion. again if the niners think about him, probably will not be til after the draft. if at all. sorry but i just do not think he fits the direction we are going in. at one time he did, not anymore and i am not sure why some, not hyde, are trying to make this complicated... unless, GASP.. they just hate trent and the front office and are just looking for anyway to pile on. heavens no!

...unless, you refuse to acknowledge that we are making our personnel decisions based on budget. It's the one constant. Old players new players rookies whatever move we are making, the roster always gets cheaper.

i think the pats have already signed thier vet in nate washington. i respectfully think boldin is valued more on the zone as compared to what nfl teams think about him

the right type of guy that is a hall of fame candidate. yes lets draft that right kind of guy. considering our aptitude in drafting receivers, of course cc, what could go wrong with your plan
