compared to AJ Jenkins its not a disappointment at all

Its been a kind of a JJ Stokes of a career. Not a bust, but not up to expectations

stokes caught 63 balls for us one year in a year he had rice and owens which helped him , that was his high water mark of his niner career. he would make a great leaping out catch and then the next time,, young would be screaming at him to catch the ball not a bad career but you are right, not worth what we gave up

Two firsts. Holy crap. Imagine the Romper Room if that happened today! They would be paying organised crime to put a hit on him
kind of like what the san fran mayor wanted to do to elvis when he threw those picks, remember?.. well some wanted to give up a number one for josh gordon so there is no way to predict the ins and outs of romper room

Shame of it is, pre injury he was a perfect WCO or air raid type of WR. Had crabs been in SF anytime from '79-'02 he would have been a yearly 80-90 catch 1100-1300 yard type of receiver.

he caught about 120 passes a season in college in an air raid offense(which is basically a supercharged WCO) and even his best year with us was 85 carches for 1100-1200 yards. I don't think it that far of a stretch to think he would put up those numbers in a true WCO that takes advantage of his skills on crossers, drives and slants.

i think the vets we had on the team would have beat him up long before he would have had a chance to achieve your theory
Hope you get that big contract you desire and the 9ers get a 3rd round comp for you.

I was taking him in a vacuum running a real WCO. Perhaps I should have just said that. See I didnt say he was gonna put up Jerry #s (90-110rec 1400-1800yds). Crabs skills are Taylor made for a real WCO.

Not from you, but I guess I just don't see what's so "" about saying a guy could have been 80-90rec 1100-1300 yards, when he has had a season of 85 rec and almost 1200 in a run first offense. Crabs didn't live up to number 10 pick expectations, but he was far from a scrub.
He's pretty much as good as gone. How much better was the team last year when he was almost 100% healthy than when he didn't play majority of 2013? It was worse even though Smith, Bowman and Willis missing a combined 36 games had a lot to do with that as well.

maybe they are just comparing the proven careers of people like freddie soloman, clark, rice and taylor vs what crabs has achieved so far? i guess i just do not think he would have fit in with the teams of back then, but other than that, i have no reason to make fun of your theory and i never meant to in the first place
For better or for worse he was involved in 2 of our biggest failures....

last play of super bowl
Seattle/NFCCG

it is probably unfair to put that on him, but just the same I'm not going to be sad if he leaves

But Jim Harbaugh said he is the best ball catcher of all time! This endorsement alone is probably enough for the FO to not even make an offer. Quite a statement from the ex-coach of a team that employed Jerry Rice for a HOF career.
I think seattle makes a run at him and him and sherman kiss and make up

Maybe they even have a child together.

Sure he is. Crabs had one of the dominate college career of any WR. We got "lucky" when he fell to us at 10. On the field he looked light years better then anything we had at the time. He was quick and had strong hands. Every year I just new he was going to break out. Then he had that one 1000 yard year and I thought he had arrived. Instead, he totally belly flopped every season after that... He was always on the cusp, but never arrived....

In contrast, AJ Jenkins was a complete shocker pick that never should have been made in the first round. He flashed zero potential and couldn't even stay on his feet when on the practice field. So while he was a complete and total bust, nobody had near the same time of expectations as Crabtree.
