Hunter is only 26 years old. Give him one more year to regain his form and crush it next year.

Baalke has basically added an entire draft class (talent pool) for next year (some earlier) with this process:

Injured Reserve / PUP / NFI / Suspension: RB Kendall Hunter, TE Busta Anderson & XWR Dres Anderson / C Daniel Kilgore / ZWR DeAndre Smelter / XWR Jerome Simpson

Was Hunter placed on IR/Designated to return? Only one player per team can be listed for mid season return, and they must be designated as such when they are placed on IR.

I'm glad somebody actually pays attention as Hunter was not designated to return......anybody watching the games could see that Mike Davis is really good.
If Hunter was IR'd then he's out the rest of the year. Was kendall pup'd or ir'd????
IRd outright looks like. Well, hope he returns to form next off season.

IR. Can't PUP or NFI a guy after he has practiced in training camp/preseason. They can designate 1 IR guy for a return at midseason, but there's no indication they did that with Hunter.

Ok thanks. He's done as a 49er. Dang thats too bad, I really really like KH but too many injuries have dogged him. I dount the 49ers will wait around for a 27 year old always hurt smaller rb although if he can recover speed and quicks he lost getting hurt then maybe he can be a #2/3 next year otherwise later dude.

They can't IR for return until after 4 PM EST tomorrow(Sunday), so Hunter is done for season.

Listen to the Tomsula interview, he gets very uncomfortable and kind of dodges the question when asked if "Rory" injured his ankle during the game.

I'm just surprised we would poor that much energy into a guy. He was good, but he wasn't exactly AP. it feels like an okoye thing were we nurse them for years and then cut bait. They must really really like Hunter. He clearly didn't look like the guy I remembered in preseason. Do we pay him on ir?

He was put on IR. Not IR with designated to return. Meaning he is done for the year.

bit off topic but what is the difference between a XWR and ZWR?

The X is lineup on the outside on the line of scrimmage. This is Smith's position. The Z is lineup on the inside off the line of scrimmage. This is Boldin's position. The X is usually jammed by the DB, while the Z is off to prevent him from getting jammed. X receivers are usually more speedy types that run longer routes that stretch the field . Z are usually possession types that run shorter routes on the inside of the numbers. I'm sure other can explain it better, but that's my attempt at it.
