That would be my guess as well. I swear, they showed Harbaugh on the sidelines last night during the 4th quarter and it was one of the first times that I've seen the "oh crap, the train has derailed and I have no idea how to fix it" look.

The rest of the NFL has figured Harbaugh's offense out. I don't think there is a second gear to fall back upon. Our offensive line stuggles, the games has NOT slowed down for Kaepernick, our receivers might as well be running stick patterns drawn up in the dirt etc. The whole thing is a mess.

Romans best game last year was at Arizona? A game that saw the Niners go 44 minutes without scoring after going ahead 17-0 in the first quarter...also after going ahead 17-0 there was only 1 drive that lasted more than 5 plays out of the next 8.

They had the Cards running right and left the first few drives and it was pure joy to watch. They were unpredictable. Can't account for us going vanilla and sitting on a lead. That happens with this team. Maybe I should rephrase....how about first half of the Cards game? LOL

The degree of stubbornness shown by Harbaugh and Roman is mind numbing. Jim Harbaugh was given the luxury of having one of the best defenses in the league when he took over. You can win a lot of games in the NFL with a stellar defense. You can play conservative run first offense, operate well between the 30s, kick field goals and still win a good chunk of football games.

But a good coach knows that nothing stays the same in the NFL. You need to be nimble and flexible to stay on top. He's not. Jim Harbaugh is STUBBORN. He is NOT doing a good job staying head of the 8 Ball. Playing vanilla flavored football will get you fired.

This is pretty much Jim Harbaugh in a nutshell.

FIRE YOUR OC JIM, YOU NEED TO ASK YOUR BIG BRO ABOUT THAT!!! GROW SOME BALLS MAN YOUR JOB IS ON THE LINE THIS YEAR!!!!

I do believe after last night mess that something will be tweaked. I can't see Roman being fired. Harbaugh doesn't have the balls.

I think pete has a point about the stubbornness, it doesn't matter who is the OC,Bo Harblecher isn't going to change, if its working, which it has so far there is no problem, but if we are 4-4, which Harbaugh will we have? Harblecher or Harbhoodie?

I agree with that philosophy 100%.

Although, I hear that a golden shower might not hurt from time to time... I think Roman does it too much though
Anyone remember the Cardinal game from last October? It was the game that righted the ship after a shaky start. With game in doubt, a narrow lead hanging in the balance, Roman unleashed Gore. It was one of the most amazing drives in recent memory, 15 plays encompassing almost the entirety of the quarter. 12 of theses plays were the exact same, I-formation, TE motioned across the formation to put a wham block on the defensive tackle, a lead block from Miller, and 5 yards of tough running against a 9 man box. This is who we are, this is who this team has to be, we are built for it, our line flourishes in it, Gore revels in in, it broke the backs of the Cardinals,a breathtaking display of raw power.
Sunday night, a lead hanging in the balance, a team not known for it run defense, all the stars aligned for a glorious, frenzied, back breaking drive...and Roman call pass, after pass, after pass! Are you kidding me!
I wasn't happy with some of the play calling. But the poor result doesn't neccesarly mean the play calling was bad. Kap had open receivers (sometimes they were WIDE open all night and he would either not see them at all or he would wait too long to throw the ball.

The bears were already banged up in the secondary and lost two more players before the Niners final drive.
LIke NCommand, I have slowly come around to the fact that it really is HaRo, so any blame is schidt can playcalling falls on both. Do I love our HC? Hell yeah. But do I like his C.S. playcalling in the RZ? NO, emphatically no. First half was terrific...and kap played well. 2nd half was embarrassing. Kap saying we have to execute better, makes me think of the old saw, "Do you mean execute the whole team?". Second half was worse than F-. Once again we got up on them and HaRo goes into their fricking shell. YOu know what's worse? Fangio did it too. We had doubles and sometime triples on Marshall and he still made the catch. Where was the pass rush if you already know you can't stop the pass? Blitz against a guy known to do poorly against blitzes. But no, we had our lead and , like mike noln, "Bend but don't break"...right up until the time you get beat. Screw that.

kap failed, miserably. Regressed to stare downs drawing 3 and 4 defenders, OC/HC failed miserably, once again down to clock mgmt., and outright crappy play calls. Fangio failed with no press D, nor blitzing. Overall after a great first half overall game grade....
F-....the 2nd half was that bad. Our guys didn't have their heads in it, Kap got rattled, kap misfired multiple times, etc. Jeez, what a disappointment. But you are only as good as the next time you get up off the floor and go back out and play well. Let us pray....
San Francisco 49ers Red Zone Offense(2012 and 2013)

I charted every offensive play the San Francisco 49ers ran in the red zone (25yd-GL), for all 19 of their Regular Season and Playoff games in 2013. This report of the 2013 49ers' red zone offense presents some of my charted data and will provide an idea of what the 49ers did, how they did it, and who they did it with in the red zone. The report is broken down in to 5 sections; play calling philosophy, run game, pass game, tendencies by personnel grouping and a conclusion. Please make note that these stats are based on Kaepernick's starts. Therefore, in this report 2012 refers to a 10 game sample size and 2013 refers to a 19 game sample size.Read more: http://www.thefootballeducator.com/san-francisco-49ers-red-zone-offense/#ixzz3DXvr5pAO
