The Ray McDonald thread

Maybe some people around here could stop pretending that "Due Process" is only valid when pertaining to government. Due process is also a concept that reflects a value. The value is that someone is not immediately assumed to be guilty of something. It has basis in 1000-year old English common law and 2000-year old scripture. It's all about rushing to judgement and jumping to conclusions, games that lots of people seem to just love to play.

im not getting the whole putting his team in this situations crap either, its like our fans expect the players to practice, play football then go home and stare at the wall. This was a birthday party not an aldon smith/delanie walker block party.

If the 49ers sit him down for the game, even if they say it has nothing to do with guilt or innocence, it will make it look like the team thinks there's some merit to the charges. I'm sure that won't impact the DA's decision on whether or not to prosecute, but it will unfairly and unnecessarily enhance a negative public opinion of McDonald. "See? . . . they deactivated him . . . oh boy that wife beating SOB is so screwed!"

Clearly you cant tell people that....they would rather get caught up in the lynch mob. Heaven forbid the team wait until the actual police and district attorney even press charges to toss the man out in the street, much less an actual conviction of said crime. Again I assert that it is what he is accused of, and the timing of it all and ,not the fact that he was accused of crime in general that is making people abandon all sense of morality in regards to the accused. Creating a double standard to pat yourself on the back or to self promote isnt noble no matter how loudly you proclaim it to be.

If they sit him they have to keep him benched until a decision is made. They can't bring him back after this week, especially if the defense struggles even a little, people will be screaming that the Niners don't care about the accusations and just want him to come back to help the team win. So if they bench him they have to commit to the idea that it will be until the entire legal process has played out.

No they don't. You continue to get facts, and if in the teams mind it appears he did nothing wrong, they you play him (provided the league has not imposed anything). Sit him until you have enough information to not sit him. Seems simple to me if it is explained when the decision is made.

For the record, I am fine if he suits up too. Would be a bit disappointed, but nothing to get worked up about.

Larry Krueger on KNBR this morning made excellent points regarding the McDonald situation. Makes Ann Killion and Kawakami look like morons.

Yeah, I'm pretty sick of the group-think, especially within our own fan base. The inability/unwillingness for individuals to think for themselves is a pretty scary problem facing our nation, in general.

This⬆⬆⬆ athletes are human beings too ya know a birthday party is not something i would consider a bad situation. I do not understand what peeps are saying. It is so easy for a person to say "if that was me blah blah blah" but it isn't you your not them you have not lived there life or shared there experiences so how would you know how you would have reacted in that situation?

People reacted with the same silly take when Kaepernick had his situation in Miami. He's watching a game with a couple of friends, a crazy woman comes over and freaks out, and people say he "puts the team in a bad situation." What??!!

He made some points about how the perception that the 49ers aren' handling this situation with care is BS...you can't just ignore ''innocent until proven guilty''.....that the reason the 49ers have 10 arrests since 2012 doesn't mean something is wrong with the culture of just the 49ers, it's a league and societal problem....RayMac hasn't been charged of anything as of now and if he does he will get a chance to defend himself, etc.....
