Tony Sparano press conference for Monday canceled Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on October 3, 2011, 9:13 AM EDT Getty Images We're not sure this means anything yet, but Dolphins coach Tony Sparano's media availability for Monday has been canceled according to Greg Cote of the Miami Herald. The moment that Miami went to 0-4 on Sunday, the Dolphins started their bye week and the Sparano hot seat watch went into overdrive. Owner Stephen Ross is in a tough spot. He's the one that gave Sparano an extension in the offseason. Ross is the one that made a big show of organizational unity and stability after going after Jim Harbaugh. Just four games later, firing Sparano would be another admission of incompetence by Ross. The only logical in-house replacement is defensive coordinator Mike Nolan, whose disappointing defense has fallen from sixth to 30th in the league. Big surprise, Nolan's D is sucking bad. He was always a very overrated DC.

I actually liked Singlecell better. He knew less about x's an o's but atleast he didn't play the big nickle all game, and he tried not to throw his players under the bus. His lockerroom was a mess, and players eventually figured out he had no idea what he was doing. But with Nolan the whole atmosphere around the team seemed insidious, and he left JTOSullivan in games to prove a point against Hill and Smith(who was on IR at the time), when JT was flat out losing us games. If Sing had kept Martz he might've had a shot.

He didn't ever throw his players under the bus. I will give him that. And you are right about that. He also did a miracle with VD. What a turnaround that guy had.

We sucked with Nolan and that's the bottom line, but I have a feeling he'll have success if he gets another HC gig. He just had too much on his plate here in SF as the GM/HC... that and he failed to ever get an offensive coordinator for more than a season.
