St. Louis and Sam Bradford: Glass Palace?

Shop 49ers game tickets
St. Louis' offense has looked pretty good since Sam Bradford took over for them. But he has an extensive history of injuries in college.

In the November 17, 2007 game against Texas Tech, Bradford suffered a concussion of unknown severity.

Sam Bradford tore ligaments in his non-throwing hand during the Sooners' win against Oklahoma State.

In the Sooners' first game of the 2009 season (against Brigham Young), Bradford suffered a 3rd degree AC joint sprain one play after becoming Oklahoma's all-time passing leader. Bradford re-injured his right shoulder on October 17, 2009 in the Red River Rivalry against Texas on the second drive of the game. It was later announced that he would undergo season-ending shoulder surgery.

Frank Gore also had a pretty extensive history of injuries with his knees. Fortunately, he has stayed healthy, for the most part. He rushed for 1000 yards in every year except his first (sharing carries with Barlow) and the most recent (due in part to Singletary's overworking him, not splitting carries).

It seems like St. Louis' chances could come crashing down if Bradford goes down for any extended period. Who is Bradford's backup? A.J. Feeley? They've banked too much on an injury prone player. It's like a glass palace; given their current state, if Bradford goes down it could shatter their whole season.
One solid hit from Willis can shatter any QB. Most teams do not have a solid back up and the team will struggle without them. So yeah...

The thing is that St. Louis could easily end up in a scenario like the Detroit Lions had last year with Matthew Stafford going down early in the season, except the Rams don't even have anyone of Shaun Hill's abilities to back up Bradford. I just think that they could go from being a contending team to one that's out of contention really quickly.
