The NFLPA's inability and procrastination in informing their player reps of what was going on is a big reason why this is happening, I mean the owners have said they would vote on july 21st for 2 weeks now. And then after a hour and a half phone call with Goodell right before they voted the players are surprised? The owners did what they said they'd do.

lmao, they didnt decertify for the heck of it. It was something needed to be done in order to file the lawsuit. And i understand players not wanting to certify again, and I think it's bs on the owners and nfl to say lockout still until re-certification. Not all 1900 players wanna be in a union.

Also the reason why the owners voted so fast was cause it was the deal they already wrote up, with extras put in. So yeah they made their vote quick.

And the players never said that they would vote right away, they said we are not on a timeline, and i dont fault them for it. You can't just expect them to read a 400 page document, and then ratify it right away. Their are alot more players then owners(1900 compared to 32 owners), so it isnt fair to put the blame on the nflpa.

And i might be beating this to death, but owners opted out, and locked them out. Not the other way around. So yeah players should take the time to understand the deal. Not all 1900 players fully understand the proposed CBA or even part of it.

I dont understand how people dont see this, the owners and leagues whole stance is a PR ploy, and a way to throw the blame on the players now. Did u see the presser with Jeff Pash, Goodell and owners. Pash said this is a deal that wont have to be put in the courts like in Minneapolis, but never said St. Louis, which the owners went to. Very smart omission on their part. Way to shift all the pressure on the nflpa.

And Im sorry, I cant stand the owners, they make billions, and dont give a s**t about us as fans, they care about one thing, $$$ Money, Money and more Money.

Neither side in my opinion cares too much for the fans. They both care about money. I understand it was a PR ploy by the owners. I would think that in the furture it may be better to have the lawyers on both sides sign off on the document that is being voted on. It just amazes me that after 7 weeks of meetings that they are still dealing with a document that the other half is unaware of its contents. Seems like it is being organized by a bunch of 10 year olds and not lawyers.
I have a confession to make.

In 2004, after the Flames made the run to the cup, I moved from Ontario to Calgary. Part of it was I always wanted to live out there but I also wanted to experience what the city felt during the 2004 run. We all know what happened. Strike and no NHL season.

By the time the strike ended and the 2005/2006 season kicked off I had been offered a job elsewhere and moved away.

So now comes 2011. I was in Calgary (ended up back there again after a few years) and I am offered a job in the Bay Area. One of the main reasons I took this job was the ability to go to all Niner games. And so, the lockout.

who care dude. There will be football again. I moved to the Bay Area in 2004 and have been to games through 2 and 4 win seasons. I'm planning to move out of California Aug. 2012, so maybe the niners will be good then

You can't expect the owners to accept an opt in union. That's lunacy. That gives the players all the benefits of a union and then also allows them pick their spots and sue the league based off of anti trust laws.

I'm fine with the rest of your post, but if the NFLPA really wants to stick to this point the league is absolutely right to tell them to go f*ck themselves.

So it's all your fault.

I feel the same way though. I actually have tickets to go to my first 49ers game....and lockout.

You don't hate the owners, you've just been told to hate the owners. Its why you hold their feet to the fire on issues that you easily ignore for the other side.

I'll rent a boat, you get the cement and chains, then we'll take sportsfan fishing and end this lockout once and for all. I'll be damned if I'm missing a whole season.

As I understand it the NFL will NEVER officially start the new league year without the players re-certifying as a union as it would expose the league to anti-trust lawsuits. If there's no union there will be no league.

And I would never expect all 1900 players to understand the agreement. That's why they have player representatives to gather all the info and present it to their teams and make a recommendation to approve or not.

That said, it's frustrating but I don't blame the players for taking the weekend to look the deal over. There looked to be about 10-12 open items that shouldn't take too long to resolve.

I love fishing. Just tell me when and where :)
They better be perusing all the details over this weekend. I don't want to hear "there is still unexplained items" or "we are unsure about the specifics of the agreement" crap come Monday morning!!!!
