Judy Battista: Players will vote tonight to approve settlement and then vote to recommend to class to reform as a union. Their position is that NFL should open the doors while the union goes thru process of reforming. Says players could turn in union cards on first day of camp.
Judy Battista: League has been adament that lockout doesn't end until new CBA is done. New CBA can't be done until union reforms. And around we go.
Judy Battista: Players Association wants players to sign physical union cards. They signed them to dissolve union; said players comfortable w/that process.

Judy Battista: League does not trust that union would reform without complication. So won't open doors until totally done.
Judy Battista: Other argument is that there are some things that can only be negotiated with a union: drug testing, grievances, discipline.
Judy Battista: All of the player action is contingent on the owners voting and ratifying the deal. Lots in flux.

I think they'll lift it once player approve it even if it takes some time to reform as a union.
I can't see the owners risking losing millions of dollars in preseason money just because of the formality of the union needing to reform. It's not like the players are going to be like gotcha! and refuse the CBA.

Albert Breer: I'm told the owners will be voting "very soon" on the settlement ... Finishing up a break now.

I think this will get done but I am looking at different sites and listening to sports radio and every report sounds contradicting. Kirk Morrison (Jacksonville Linebacker) was on San Diego Sports Radio and he said "don't believe anything you hear from the media. They make stuff up to keep you watching for good ratings." He also said "that the owners could agree to a new CBA but then the players would have to review the 500 page document before they sign." Can still happen but he thinks it will drag on a little longer, and that there is not enough time left in the day to review everything.
LET'S JUST HOPE THAT HE'S WRONG...

He is an idiot who knows nothing about anything. Can you imagine having each team representative reading a 500 page document? These guys hardly have a college education. They probably can't even read Grapes of Wrath, so forget a 500 page legal contract. The players will sign off what their attorney will tell them is a good final deal. That's it.

He's at least right about the media. I've been saying that all along. The say whatever it takes to keep their follower numbers up. That's why we've been a week away from a deal for a couple of months now.

Exactly, no player is going to sit down and read 500 pages. If so that would take them months on months to understand what is in there. It would take me months to understand what is in there.

espn_nfcwest: RT: @BobMcGinn: NFC executive in personnel just said his club has been told that training-camp rosters will be expanded from 80 to 90 players.
