they have every right to say that. he is under contract and they want to keep it that way, and the best way for them to do that is to squash the rumor mill and try to push away any Gruden suitors. It also means absolutely nothing. I'm sure you know that.

Nah man Gruden wants this job. Just think about it to be the man that restores the glory to a once great franchise. I think gruden would love that challenge.

I just don't see Gruden coming in to SF and being successful. I see him wanting to keep Alex Smith and attempting to keep him as a starter. Gruden talks about Alex Smith like he is his first born.

Yeah what does Gruden know about QBs'? It's not like Gannon was anything special... oh wait...

Personally, I could live with Alex as our QB if the stupid Bell Cow philosophy were sh!tcanned and we had a solid Coordinator and QB coach for our QBs' to work with. No giving the job to anybody. Make them work for it. We haven't had any of this really going back to Siefert.

With Gruden I'd be confident that we would have a game plan every week. What kind of defense would he want?

I just wouldn't want the guy to come in and completely hack at what we've built. And by that I'm referring to what McDaniels has done in Denver trading good players away. To rebuild again would just make me

Holmgren, you know he will at the LEAST raise us to playoff caliber level. Harbaugh has so had so much success at San Diego and Stanford, and taking that along with his NFL ties, he could definitely be a smash hit. Gruden, I think he could take us to the playoffs a few times, but I don't know if we'd ever be Super Bowl caliber. Maybe he repeats his Oakland success with us. Holmgren won't leave Cleveland. Cleveland seems to be headed in the right direction especially with Colt McCoy as their starting QB. If The Browns can add some WR's for McCoy to throw too then Cleveland could be a pretty dangerous team next season. I wouldn't count on Holmgren leaving that any time soon.
