Manusky coached him before, and knows how to use him. lawson shows his worth in so many other ways beside rushing passer, so Merriman could be the "Fred Dean" of this era for us..I'd like this to happen.
this is really nothing to complain about we're 0-5.

oh.... 1-5. s*ck it raiders.
Think he'll make it past the Panthers, Bills, or Lions now that we finally put up a W?

I'd love to get this guy, some of his performances issues have resided within him, but I don't think San Diego has been using him properly; Merriman would probably flourish at least 10% more in Manusky's 3-4 style/philosophy.

San Francisco could be Merriman's next team

Shawne Merriman will be released by the Chargers once he's healthy enough to play again. And it appears he will definitely play again in 2010.

Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Merriman wants to play in Baltimore, Miami, or Dallas. But he's unlikely to get his choice because he has to clear waivers first.

Despite a contract that pays him $3.269 million, the 49ers sound likely to put a claim on Merriman. San Francisco will have a high waiver priority because of their record. The team even debated trading for Merriman before he was released.

Schefter says that Merriman could be healthy enough to play again in the next two weeks.

Thanks for the info.
Paris Haralboy will be benched.
Does anybody know how they decide waiver priority between teams with the same record??? If the Bills pass on him, its Niners, Panthers, and Lions all with 1-5 records

very doubtful a 4-3 defensive team puts in a claim for him
Is it really a good idea to pick him up if he doesn't want to play here?

Since he's made his intentions public about where he wants to play, I don't think it'll be a good move..

seymour didn't want to be a raider, but he's still been pretty good for them If Merriman wants to prove he can still play and wants to land another big contract, he'll perform...

My concern is his health and contract. I'm not sure how it works, but I don't want to be stuck paying him a bunch of money if he's barely going to be able to play.

we need passrush help, though, and it might be worth the risk.

Who did the Panthers beat?

And that's the truth. Bills are the only team before us on the waiver wire (amongst the rest) that run a 3-4 scheme.

-No way he even gives the Bills the benefit of the doubt (though), Merriman is gonna want to stay in Cali (and if he had to play for any s**tty team he'd play for a s**tty team in a s**tty division). All arrows point to us.

The report said Merriman wanted to go to Miami or Baltimore but if he is released after the trade deadline that SF would have a high waiver pick and could grab him there.

Also said that SF was internally considering trading for Merriman but it was unclear if they meant in the past or are currently trying to get a deal done.

why not offer a 5th-7th round pick for him before he's released? can the chargers trade him?
