Yeah, AD was one of my favorite players before this, f**k him. Sign Boone, move him to RT pick up a decent Vet and start the young-ins in the middle and pray the line stays healthy.

Tomsula said he wasn't shocked by Davis' retirement. Texted with him before practice Friday. #49ers

Good news is with all the retirements, we should be a good $50-$60mil under the salary cap every year for the next 5 of so years...

Not really. It's a league health trend more than anything. SF getting hit with it is a coincidence. I'd expect other random retirements from other teams in the next few offseasons, too.

Staley- Thomas-Kilgore-Martin-Boone. Trent Brown and pears backup tackles. Pears, looney, and siberman as backup lineman. We may have to trade another lineman who can step up if there is an injury. 2 injuries to the line and Kap n Hyde are toast

People make like it is never happened to anyone. There are people who have retired early when they had no injuries, Like Jim Brown, Barry Sanders come to mind, not to forget the 49ers John Frank.
The others had serious injuries except for Borland. Notice these players are intelligent players, but injuries, they also invested wisely. Watch Justin and Willis will probably end up in the broadcast booth or coaching. Only those not in a good financial place would play even if they harm their body.
Davis said this is only temp and the niners will still own his rights if he comes back.
Shocked-don't like it, but not cynical like others here. Not drinking the kool aid either, just not a conspiracy nut.

I follow him on IG and he really seems to "enjoy life". Posting pics that show off his vacations, love life, and humor. Gotta stop drafting these players that think there's more to life than football. I'm only half joking.

Tweet from late March
Here's his concussion from the vsNYG game. He would stay down after this play and miss the next game.
Davis' symptoms over the first few days included seeing a "white fog" and having difficulty maintaining a conversation. The 49ers' fifth-year veteran had never previously experienced a concussion, and only Wednesday was he cleared to resume cardio workouts on his own.http://www.mercurynews.com/49ers/ci_27069909/49ers-tackle-anthony-davis-discusses-his-terrifying-first
.
Davis suffered his concussion when he took what he termed "a spinning elbow" to the head on the 49ers' second-to-last snap in a 16-10 win over the New York Giants. He tweeted about his injury after the game, joking how he was "literally knocked out for a sec. I'm officially an NFL player now."
