Well, f**k it, next man up. Wonder if the 49ers might look at a trade, possibly not even for a tackle but a guard if Boone kicks outside.

Per source, retired 49ers RT Anthony Davis will pay back his unearned signing bonus money. It will be a significant chunk of change.

Im at my breaking point. This is just getting ridiculous to the point that I find it funny. At this point I just want to see some football. I still think were in that 8-8 range because many of these players we've lost didn't have a huge impact last year.

The one *negative* if you want to call it that, thing about drafting/signing high character smart players is that....well they make smart decisions....lol. be it Willis, Borland, etc
instead of Davis' career ending early because of injuries or bad play because of injuries, he might just be extending it longer with this decision.
I hate that this offseason has been like this for us, and that Anthony couldn't make his decision before the draft. But maybe he thought he could make it into the training camp fine and would be ready to go...but as the season started to get closer and closer, and in his mind no improvement in his health or state of being...just had to come to grips with this decision. I don't think he would turn his back on his teammates like that...he has always had his teammates and coaches back on the field and off with his twitter..lol.
Just have to move on...
that all being said, who wants to bet Baalke called Eric Reid into his office today and said "sup?"

It would be nice if a leader of the team would step up and say we will win with the guys that want to be here or something like that. Id hope it would be kaep but he is too busy skipping practice to attend a "charity" event

And Baalke drafting quitters.
Baalke wasn't GM when A.D. was drafted, thank you.
He was drafted 5 years ago. I don't recall anyone calling him a quitter previously.
his college coach schiano questioned whether he'd be a 2nd and 3rd contract guy
That was after he signed his second contract, has nothing to do with when he was getting drafted out of college. That being said his college coach who was a miserable failure as an NFL coach did have a point I guess.

Wow-the only good thing is that it happens now so that they can make changes. Question though, how does this affect our cap this year? With Justin gone and now Davis, the cap be used to extend someone now with nice bonus.
Also, since he claims this is not a permanent retirement, but will not be playing, this must free up a roster position as he will move to lists right, which is what?
This should give Brown a better chance at making the 53 man roster.

#49ers GM Trent Baalke says organization thanks Anthony Davis for his contributions "and wishes him the best as he moves on from the game."
Translation-GTFO with that "I'll be back in a few years" BS.
so he still needs to abide by the contract if he comes back ??
Correct, if he returns, like Borland, Smith, and Willis they are tied to us at the salary they would have earned this year, and going forth.

Wonder how much cap space this gives us. We suddenly could have a ton of room.
