When asked about former #49ers' Anthony Davis's 2nd retirement in 3 years, Joe Staley only chuckled in response.
The 49ers official one sentence announcement said it all.

Good riddance.
he was a bit of a troll. i remember him standing by and laughing when the harbaugh-schwartz handshake fiasco went down
He was laughing because I bet Harbaugh said if we win I'm going to freak out like Schwartz did when his lions won. Go back and watch when the Lions won games Schwartz would freak out like that all the time. Funny that Harbaugh didn't do that for any other win. It was Harbaugh trolling Schwartz. And if I was on the team I would have laughed and loved every second of it.
oh he did, i forgot about that!
Swartz, Payton and other coaches told Jim before the year started that he wouldn't win. That's why the slap shake happened

Other research suggests that the children of never-married single parents tend to do somewhat worse than children of divorced single parents."

I don't understand people who post about things they actually know nothing about but act like they know something.
Do you have any idea how many African Americans you would be red flagging that come from single parent households? Do I have to mention two of the best players(high character) we've drafted (Bowman, Willis) the past decade came from single parent households.

At least he isn't a coward.
In 2015, Davis could have half-assed it and gotten cut, which would have allowed him for keep more than $4.4 million. In 2016, he could have milked the concussion that kept him out of two games, possibly resulting in placement on season-ending IR. Alternatively, Davis could have embraced his role as a backup, done the bare minimum, collected his full $1.225 million salary, and not paid back another dime.
Instead, he's gone again. Once he lands on the reserve/left squad list, Davis won't be permitted to play for the 49ers or anyone else this year. He could be traded to another team in 2017, but if he's not inclined to play pro football in San Francisco it's hard to imagine him ever mustering the will to play again.
It's clear that Davis truly has no interest in continuing to play professional football. Unlike others who have walked away, Davis willingly will give back over $4 million for his freedom from the sport.

Depends on how he has invested. He's played a few full years so in our standards, he already is rich. NFL standards, dude's broke.
I'm sure its been covered in here ad nauseam, but it looks like his college coach (Greg Schiano IIRC) was right on about AD with his comments about his passion or lack there of for the game.

He can pull a Chad OchoCinco and stretch it out for a number of years. Chad drives a Prius and buys his dates McDonald's.
Once these guys get paid its like they just quit everything.

It has more to do with the way Schwartz was conducting himself on the sideline that day. He was acting like a colossal a*****e and mocking JH after challenges

Can you please change the thread title to: Anthony "Bum" Davis?
