I doubt Chargers will trade Shawne Merriman for a 3rd rounder. Think about it, he was one of the best OLB if not the best OLB in the league before he got injured, Chargers will ask for WAY more than a 3rd rounder...Especially since Oakland gave a 1st rounder for Richard Seymour.

I would love to have him on this team. He's (or was) a true stud at OLB and easily one of the best OLB in the leagues and an elite pass rusher, I just dont see us going after him because we "build our team through the draft"

That was a 1st rounder for 2011 not 2010.. Plus, Oakland is known for overpaying, or in this case, over-giving to get players..

who cares, offer them a 2nd and 4th or one of our first rounders. just GET HIM. Heck, id rather have him than craptree. atleast shawne merriman will make a guarenteed difference.

Than trade them our first. just get this guy on the 49ers please. but i thought you could trade any pick that you have? i know in the nba you can but maybe not football.

It's obvious the 49ers need a pass rushing OLB that can beat blockers one-on-one. How about trading our 2nd rd pk next year for him, it'll be probably be in the late 30s early 40s. A 1st rd pick is too much considering where the 49ers will be drafting next year.
AJ Smith drafted English to replace him, so maybe he's willing to get rid of Merriman a year earlier.
