DO IT. Get him now. hes one of the best olbs in the league. he would make our 34 d legit and knock the crap out of hasselbeck, merriman, and bulger. i dont care about that s**t with tila tequila, shes a psycho and cant be trusted. are we really going to hold our defense back because of an incident with that psycho girl?

He's gonna knock the crap outta himself?

oops i meant warner. my bad haha, seriously though. we need to get merriman. when a top tier pass rusher becomes available then you get them and dont look back.

Doesn't the fact that Merriman was dominant on roids concern anyone else? He's not the same player without roids...and if there's proof that he choked Tila Tequila, then he could be suspended. Either way, he just sounds like trouble.

If he did choke Tila that means he back on the roids again. Which means he's good for 15 sacks this season

Merriman is a big-time contributor, it's highly unlikely the Chargers would trade him for a 3rd round pick. A 2nd rounder is obviously a better offer, but I doubt they'd take it after the raiders traded away a first rounder for a less-productive, older pass rusher. I think offering them a 2nd wouldn't be a bad idea, but when they turn it down, we need to up the ante.

Merriman is a proven commodity but he does have baggage and that's what is scaring me from giving him a 1st.

Admittedly, i'm conservative with draft picks. I strongly believe in building through the draft. We've only chosen one premiere pass rusher in any recent draft (Lawson) but i think that if we had targeted for OLBs, we'd be in a better position and wouldn't have to have this conversation right now.

I say we start talking to the Chargers now & offer them a second round pick. This guy could make our defense elite in a hurry. Plus he make like being reunited with his old defensive co-ordinator. Hey Scotty, make it happen!

Manusky was not a defensive coordinator in San Diego. He was just a linebackers coach.

My bad, he was his position coach. Thank you for the correction.

I really like what we are doing in the draft, but I would be overly excited if we gave up a 2nd for Merriman. We can afford it with our two 1st rounders next year. He could bring that nasty & dominant force on our defense like Charles Haley used to do.
