"Brooks was one of two linebackers the Saints invited to work out, the other being 34-year-old veteran Derek Smith, who has played 12 seasons, mostly with the Washington Redskins and San Francisco 49ers, for whom he was a regular starter. Smith's workout also is scheduled for Wednesday.
Last season, Smith played in five games with the San Diego Chargers and one with the Miami Dolphins."

I always liked Derek Smith, but it's time for him to get on with the rest of his life. His playing days are over!

UDFA w/ glasses might be a better choice than cyclops. I agree w/ fzrdave's comment, his playing days are over, let it go.
