They only need to switch conferences if it is both the Chargers and Raiders who move to LA (with Rams staying in STL).

If it is the Rams to LA only, or the Rams plus either Chargers or Raiders, then there is no need to switch anything.

why ?

there wasn't an issue before when all three were close to each other
This is a big deal because not only are the teams bitter rivals, but unlike the New York teams, which play each other just once every four years, the Raiders and the Chargers play each other twice every year.

This means both teams would get an extra home game each year in which they are the "visiting" team in the matchups.

One extra home game every eight years — the Giants and the Jets alternate who is the home team — is not that big of a deal. One extra home game every year is a huge advantage over the other teams in the division and a big advantage over the rest of the AFC when it often comes down to one game deciding the two wild-card spots.

In other words, this can happen only if one team is moved to the NFC. That in turn would require a team in the NFC to be uprooted and moved to the AFC.

meh

Well, first of all, they won't have to travel because they'd be playing in their own stadium, regardless of which team is considered the home team that day. Traveling is a big deal during an NFL season. The Broncos and Chiefs would have to travel 8 times during the season while the Chargers and raiders would travel 7 times. Secondly, it would end up being just like when the Niners play the raiders, with the "visiting" team filling half the stadium anyway due to the close proximity of the two teams. It works out for the NFL when the Niners and raiders play because it only happens every 4 years, so there is no annual advantage where the two teams don't have to travel as much as the rest of the league. Plus, since they only play one time, only one of the teams lucks out and gets one less week of travel (this past year it was us).

what good is another home game if they can't even fill their new stadium
Last season I had a draft crush on Gabe Jackson G.

I thought he's going to have a stellar career.

Does anyone know how he did last season?

While I do get the joke, the answer is less travel.

IF both Raiders and Chargers move to LA to share a stadium (the Carson Toxic dump site) - then the change would be necessary because of the TV contracts. Can't have two AFC teams in the same market sharing the same TV broadcast rights.

You have google, I am sure of it. Ha: i mean I am sure you have google.

Not sure the same TV contracts were in place in 1995. NFL is much greedier now.

It won't happen. They will have an extra Sunday when they play each other once every 4 years. The HOME team will own the seats and tickets. NFL will not allow two teams in the same division to share a stadium - it doesn't work with the current TV contracts.

And, if Raiders move back to LA they will fill the stadium So will Rams. Chargers, not so much.

Funny a NINER fan is making this "JOKE."

I think he made the All-Rookie team. Not sure but I kno he had a good season, cracked the starting line-up and the O-Line was weaker when he was out. Carr was sacked under 30 times last season.
All the top FAs are flying off the board and the Raiders have yet to make a move lol
Zach Whitman @zjwhitman
Percy Harvin ending up in Oakland is the only world in which I want to live.

Obviously Suh and then later Cobb were both connected to Raiders even if it was speculation. They got neither one and still suck as much as ever.
