Don't disagree with Tarkenton but I grew up watching the Vikings as a kid (Minnesota kid) and what I remember is that Fran held the record for most interceptions for awhile. His comeback was you had to throw the ball alot to have that many interceptions.

And.....don't get me started on the scrambling he did. At times it appeared he was 40 back of the line of scrimmage.

I was about to say the same thing. Pot calling the kettle black here as he drove his coaches crazier than anyone and set scrambling QBs back a long way, simply because they were too unpredictable.

That said, it's fun watching old clips of him. He drove defenses crazy.
Just seeing the Tarkenton name reminds me of the 70's Vikings when they had an outside stadium. Imagine the home field advantage in Dec. They should of stuck with an outside stadium instead of a dome.
So I guess Fran is not a Fan.
You forget the quarterbacks in Tarkenton's era threw alot of interceptions because the rules were different back then. Favre simply makes alot of stupid throws.

You have to remember that qb's in Tarkenton's era had a lot more to deal with from defenses as defensive ends could use headslaps and receivers could be bumped all the way down the field so Tarkenton scrambled to keep the play alive and himself alive. Qb's from Tarkenton's era were Sonny Jurgensen, Namath, and Griese and if you look at the qb rating none of those guys would be a star today and Namath would be ridiculed severely. Favre has been a great player but he needs to be criticized so that he can play as a great player consistently like he did early in his career.

I saw Tarkenton riding an elephant in an infomercial a few decades ago, after that I no longer have any respect for him and could care less what he has to say.
