we are going to have a deadly serious conversation about the 49ers and John Lynch in about an hour

just pulling together some data
get ready
most 49ers fans realistically know they've drafted like garbage
some national people think John Lynch is right to say he doesn't… https://t.co/iUIzmILNg8

1) seems skewed toward having a high draft pick
2) whole NFC West is in the bottom

I mean the top 5 in those list are constantly bad teams and the bottom of the list are consistent playoff teams minus cardinals

One might interpret that as teams abandoning what got them there, trying to "fill in the needs" while they're at the top instead of just keeping a steady supply of talent. I think the niners are guilty of that for sure.

that is fair but i just wanted to point that out
This is where draft analyst go after GM because sometimes it makes them look stupid for being "wrong" after all its literally their job to come up with the most accurate big board of where players may fall

Could care less that they finally draft two OL because they are both projects, not even potential starters. Dugger is a complete mystery. That equates to a D grade which is generous.
Struggling to suggest superstars in the whole draft. This one is forgettable.

70. My goal was leaving the draft with a DPR and Height fits the bill. Here's my write up from March 30 in the DL: 2026 Draft Class on Height-
Romello Height - Love watching this guy on tape. Explosive off the line. Plays with a high motor. He wants to make plays. Can beat tackles to the inside. When its 3rd and long he is a threat. He shows effort in the run game even though he lacks mass and strength and is washed out. Shows some ability to drop back into coverage. His pass rush is a little pre contrived. It looks like he says, "I'll hit them with the spin move this time." instead of wow the tackle overset, let me counter. And it shows. But when he guesses right with his athleticism and bend it is game over. I dont think his frame is going to add alot of weight, theres going to be concerns about being a one hit wonder. How much of the success comes from Bailey on the other side drawing attention. But still, if its 3rd and 10 he's probably number 5 on my list of who I would want rushing the passer from this class.
90. I cant really get behind the Kaelon Black pick. I'm glad we created the opportunity through trades and we needed to add an RB to the roster, but not sure the player and moment of the draft were ideal. I was high on Gennings Dunker. Cage Kasey and Jalen Farmer were other guards I was on high that made sense. I thought that was also a great time to take Jermod McCoy. After stock piling some picks I was good with the risk vs reward.
92. I have to mention Osa here as the draft capital here made it happen. And this was a phenomenal move.
107. The Halton pick is great. We need another 3 tech and I was high on him. Plays with energy and speed. Going to be a nice rotation piece. We moved up here in part to the Dee Winters trade, which I think made sense after bringing Dre back.
127. I alluded to some other guys I was higher on and wish we took earlier. I feel like me missed out on a rush of guards between 90-127 that fit our scheme. I like Carver Willis. He's a really good run blocker and his film is way better than his athletic profile. He can move in space. I think he can develop into a backup with functional starter upside but may need a year to adjust to the guard position and to add some mass. I dont see him as instantly challenging for that LG spot, and that was one of my goals in the draft. Not really knocking the players involved, but would have love to see positional switches between this pick and 90.
139. I love the idea of this pick. We'll see how Prysock works out, but I'm frustrated by our lack of length on the back end. All our corners are short. We throwing Stout and Mustapha out there to play mighty mouse. I dont need any more nickel flexibility. Get a big boundary guy that can play cover 3. We watched Seattle dominant with big CBs in the cover 3. Then watched them dominate again with Witherspoon and Riq and Emmanwori as a big nickel. We've got Mykel, Collins, Warner. Give me a big SS, a fast FS, and some big corners and make it difficult to throw over us. I watched some film on Prysock while scouting Tacario and he has good measurables. Good hips. Unfortunately, has stone hands. But he has rea upside. Hopefully we can develop him into something. The opportunity will be there.
154. After the Winters trade we need another LB to sort of reset that rookie pay scale. Dugger looks like a high upside project. I got to think he has immediate special teams value. Really unique profile. Converted safety and the body type doesnt yet match LB. Supposedly 240 but he looks lanky. Love the height, arm length, wingspan. I would have preferred the stay in the 4th and try to acquire Elarms Orr or Kendal Daniels, but I dont hate it. And future picks are always a good thing.
179. Developmental tackle here. I don't know what you can be mad about here. He has great physical traits. We pulled Puni from Kansas. They play a wide zone and so you can see some scheme fits on tape. He needs development. He is upright. The technique is lacking. I thought Texas Tech exposed him. But coach him up and you hope to get a long term swing tackle.
At the end of the day its a C+. Stribling felt early although I like the player. And I would have done Gennings Dunker/Nick Singleton over Kaelon Black/Carver Willis. Would have loved a FS. I'm pretty happy with the rest of the draft. I think Williams and Bosa coming back along with Osa, Height, and Halton is going to revamp the pass rush. We put some tools in the toolbox for Morris. Added depth to some key areas. If you get a starter from Prysock or Willis then this can jump to a B very quickly.
