When Kanak spoke to us at the @ShrineBowl (with @RonOnChiefs and @CJScoobs ) he talked about modeling his game after Kyle Juszczyk. I think he can still be a good player even with the small frame for a TE https://t.co/w9obJ7GK6h pic.twitter.com/Dxj9WzAsBH

Sean Mannion is going to get a close up look at Oklahoma TE, Jaren Kanak, one of my favorite Day 3 prospects at the @ShrineBowl

LB converted TE. Former standout track athlete. 500-plus snaps on special teams.
Get Matt LaFleur his Kyle Juszcyzk.

I know at least one NFL team said they'd be calling Jaren Kanak if he ran a sub-4.6 second forty yard dash

He ran a 4.53 #NFLCombine2026 pic.twitter.com/dHgjT7EkCD
When the TEs get going, keep an eye on Oklahoma TE Jaren Kanak (<6'2" 234 pounds + 30 1/2" Arms)

I got a chance to talk to him at the E/W Shrine Bowl -- and he seemed committed to or focused on being the next Kyle Juszczyk, but he will run much faster (4.7s at Pro Day in 2013) pic.twitter.com/spG9izl3Mx
Kanak and Kittle would definitely hit it off

Part of me feels this way, but the other part of me gets why Kyle will always have a fullback. Having a fullback in the modern NFL is unique. It's something defenses don't see every week. A moving gap to account for out of the backfield gives defenses another thing to worry about, and it can put defenders in the bind when they have to factor in that extra gap into the their run fit equation. Add in the window dressing, the motions and it just adds to the s**t defenses are stressed over when they go against Shanny.
They real isssue is that they need to replace Juice. The guy doesn't move anyone. I think he does a good job of connecting his blocks, but he never displaces bodies or creates space. He just gets in the way and hasn't been a real physical presence since his first year in SF. I also don't think Juice has much juice left at his age compared to these athletic monsters teams are lining up against the 49ers. The problem with getting rid of Juice, however, is that he does so much in the offense. There's so much on his plate that Kyle probably doesn't trust another player to be able to handle his workload. Unfortunately for Kyle, Juice is is going to be 35 years old, so father time is going to force his hand.

I think it helps having a converted TE that can credibly get out and run routes rather than just a plodder who is either blocking 95% of the time or running it.
Although Kanak is still working the ins and outs of offense after having started at LB. Both he and Nowakowski are ideal Juice replacements in terms of size, demeanor and combination of blocking and receiving talent. Kanak is more explosive overall.

How do we not draft this guy at #58? I guess because he's not a good blocker but damn he is impressive catching the football.
A better faster more athletic version of Jennings. Huge instant upgrade in the passing game but a downgrade in the run game..
Sign Doubbs and grab 1 other WR in the draft and Sam Roush TE our WR/TE group is now in the top third of the NFL from being the worst.
27. Cooper Jr WR
58. Stowers TE
92. Unwaiwu G
127. Benson/Law
133. Roush TE

I dont see the point of a pass catching TE in this scenario because he wont be a better receiver than Cooper, Pearsall or Doubs. All you'll see is Stowers get taken off the field in favor of Roush

I don't think he will be available in the 4th round when we pick though...

Obviously post Tonges retention, but we have 4 TEs under contract and one of the most expensive TE groups in the league. I dont see us drafting 2 TEs or spending heavy capital at the position.

Yeah. Plus Stowers lack of blocking might take him off our draft board.
Sam Roush/Joe Royer are still in play imo if they last until our 4th round picks. Kittle still a question mark as to when he returns so we may draft one TE if one falls that we like to the 4th rd.
Need to trade back and get a few extra picks.
33. Max Iheanachor OT
58. Cassius Howell/Malachi Lawrence EDGE
103. Jalon Kilgore SS
127. Bud Clark FS
133. Kendrick Law WR
138. Malik Benson WR/KR/PR
139. Sam Roush/Joe Royer TE
179. Dontay Corleone DT

There are many rd 4-7 guys.
If we trade a 4th, maybe get three picks and guarantee we get two tight ends, and maybe fullback(kanak)
