Like if something crazy happened and Sadiq fell to #27 and we draft freaking Lomu because of "the rising costs of premium positions" I'll just about lose my mind and blow a gasket.

No trade back take the best player unless the available players are all graded on the same tier then ok fine draft the WR EDGE OT.

But if they think Kayden McDonald (for example) is a significantly better player than Lomu or Iheanachor or any of the EDGEs or WRs then we should take Kayden McDonald. Can draft an EDGE or WR at #58. If McDonald is graded similarly and on the same tier obv go with WR EDGE OT as we also have needs at those positions as well.

I'd personally be pumped if we drafted McDonald at #27 as I think he is a great player. Can draft an EDGE at #58 (Barham) and double up at DT with Kaleb Proctor at 127 who is more like Osa. Our DL would be elite again.

Just draft a great player at 27 dont care who it is. Lomu isnt a great player so dont pick him.

I'm with you in regards to just taking the BPA, but we all know that's not how the 49ers draft.

Also Sadiq is not the BPA he is the best prospect avaliable (clearly a different P lol). He did not have a huge production in college and really rose up because this is a weak TE draft at top end and his athelthic testing was through the roof. If he came out last year he wouldnt be a first round pick. I think in most drafts he wouldnt be a first round pick

You're drafting prospects. NFL teams don't care about college production outside of it showing up on tape. They care about what they will produce for their team.

Sadiq isn't the first kid to be pushed down the depth chart for a variety of reasons and only produce limited amount in college but show NFL teams enough to make them think he can be a critical piece of their roster.

Sadiq's athletic ability coupled with his physicality is rare and he would create many mismatch opportunities for Shanahan to work with. He would absolutely be BPA regardless of his one season of real sample size.
There's no shot they take a left tackle now at 27 with Trent secured, right?

I think doubtful unless someone unexpected is there which means other positions like pass rusher were probably taken instead etc. It should be BPA regardless.

i dont disagree he is a mismatch im saying the tape and production dont warrant a first round pick you are hoping his play reaches his athletic talent. He would not be a first round pick in many drafts

Doubt it. Cannot understand 49ers reluctance to use a high pick on the offensive line. That's happened once in Kyle's era. Once.

I had no doubt he would re-sign, I like the idea of a swing tackle to develop. I think 1st round is kind of rich for that but outside the top 50 there is not much going on in this draft for a quality OT so not likely they take one anyway. Guard and Center are different stories and there are a handful of pretty good tackles that might be moving inside

Depending who's on the board; I'd still be down with Max. That guy has top 5 tackle in the league potential and to get that at #27?

I'd be legit stunned if he made it to our pick TBH. Have not seen a dawg like him in awhile. He may not be silverback, but he's a wall out there and made so many top players look helpless.

I never got off the Max wagon.

The problem is whether their opinion on BPA lines up with reality.
Is there a single plug and play OL in this draft? If so, who would make the most sense for us?

I see a lot of growing pains with this draft, so I don't see a plug and play guy that doesn't come with year one issues but I also don't know about every single available OL prospect out there. LG/C doesn't seem like a place where a rookie could just walk in and dominate but who knows.

So do you guys see us drafting a project type (later rounds) or a true plug and play OL guy today in round 1?

Who's our starting left guard? Let's not forget how our oline was pushed around twice to finish the season by Seattle. I don't like the idea of drafting a LT to play LG but it happens and has worked. See Tyler Smith in Dallas
