Walter Nolen IDL Ole Miss

My only concern with Nolan and guys like him is they aren't loyal at all. He played at 3 different high schools (almost 4 as he enrolled at IMG Academy but never played). He then played for Texas A&M and then went to Ole Miss. Thats 5 different schools in 6 years!!! No loyalty and they are going to chase the money, In 4 years if he's any good we are going to be competing with 31 other teams to resign him for a huge massive contract.

I know i'm old school but at some point transferring to multiple schools is a red flag. I know when i played football my teammates were my brothers. I'm not leaving them, we were in it together.

To be fair this is part of the brave new world of NIL.

I'm glad we've met with him, they need to figure out his why. Hope they don't miss. To be fair I'm getting pretty close to grading Harmon over him anyway, if that's the case even if Nolen remained slightly ahead of Harmon I'd use the character concerns as a tie breaker and take Harmon.

I think Harmon is the more rounded DT, whereas Nolen is more specialised, difference being his specialism fits us to a tee. I wonder if Harmon would have even more success if he was allowed to just shoot gaps like Nolen.

Nolen generates a surprising amount of hip torque out of his stance. It's kind of crazy how often he jolts OL given that he really ain't that big. He's the definition of what DL coaches mean when they say create knockback.

The bend in the second rep is crazy. Not many IDL that can turn on a dime like that.

it's easy to love Nolen and if he had no character concerns, I'd be pounding the table for him at 11. But man, everyone at 4949 Santa Clara should be terrified of this dude turning into Devondre Campbell in the NFL.

Per ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, "multiple" NFL scouts have expressed "maturity concerns" about Nolen. There was a situation at Ole Miss during the 2024 season that may have raised some eyebrows. Nolen appeared to suffer a lower-body injury late in the first half of the Rebels' game against Oklahoma on Oct. 26 and he sat out the second half. Speaking to reporters after the game, Mississippi head coach Lane Kiffin offered a cryptic response when asked if there was any concern about Nolen's health going forward. "I don't know. He wasn't able to go back in. I actually thought he was going to go back in and he decided that he couldn't go back in," Kiffin said. The Athletic's Dane Brugler noted the "interview process will be crucial to (Nolen's) final grade" because he played at six different programs in the past seven years dating back to his time in high school. According to Fowler, some scouting reports for Nolen mention he has a "history of walking off the practice field mid-session due to frustration."

Yeah, I'm out too I'm afraid and it's a shame, this kid couldn't be a better fit for us.
Damn…. Pass for me too. Harmon it is.

I like Harmon but not at 11. Oh I'm sure it will happen as this has been my prediction all along but at least try to trade back a bit…

I've only watched limited film of Nolen and it didn't take long before I said to myself man this dude would fit in our scheme like a glove. The more that stuff about his character and work ethic comes out the more I'm out on him. The niners can't afford to butcher this draft. This team has too many holes and depth concerns. The niners might just need to go with a "safer" pick especially in the first round.

Now if something hypothetical happens and Nolen is sitting there day 2 after sliding in the third round then the value would just be too good to pass up.

I was down between Nolan and Barron. I'm officially all in on Barron at this point
Last time we ended up using 11th pick on an ole miss product, it was a HOF player. If we take him - I hope that happens.

fyi I'm referencing Patrick Willis

Barron is a good prospect, I think he's a NCB at the next level…sprinkle in some S snaps. we already got an elite level NCB.

I disagree with this. He played primarily outside this past year

Go listen to Nate Trice explain Barron and his role at the next level. He's similar to Brian Branch. Lots of analysis have said the same.

Can he be put outside, yes. Is that remotely close to his best spot, no…If you want the best out of him it's in a NCB/S role, Not as a boundary corner.

Hell he's even said his best spot is NCB

I completely disagree that it isn't remotely close to his best spot. Barron can 100% play outside, I do agree that he is probably best outside, but I also disagree that we have an elite NCB, Lenoir only did it because we had no one else, they'd clearly like to leave him outside. Barron could easily allow us to do that.

#11 is a bit rich though and I don't like that he'll be 24 when the season starts. I could get on board, but ultimately I don't think he's the choice.

The more I watch of Harmon the more I'd be very happy if we drafted him. He's shooting up my board.
Walking off the practice field because he was frustrated? Damn not only skipping practice but folding over what I presume is a good challenge isn't good to hear. Still would like to take a flyer on him but not with our first maybe trade up if he falls far enough but I think shanny/lynch are done taking flyers with high draft capital
