The "reports" out there don't say what the concerns are or cite the sources. I don't know if there are legitimate character concerns or not about Nolen, but I feel like what's out there is more of a character assassination attempt because of the lack of proof."

and this seems to be accurate,... I have not read any report, article or writting specifying which are those "character concerns", usually they just talk about general "character concerns" and never cite the sources.

Anyway, niners interviewed him and I'm sure they were and are aware of the possible concerns and scrutinize them,... so, I'm back on Nolen's boat,... I left it assuming this year niners cannot fail the draft (especially the first round) and, hence, should avoid every possible red flag

but this seems to be all BS,... and Nolen is a f*cking beast,... it pops-up the moment you begin watching him play,... they have to land one of the Mason, Nolen, Harmon, Alexander group of 3-tech DTs,... they need to,... and Nolen is now possibly my fav,... again

Yeah I find it a bit weird that it came out during the combine. Part of it was him not working out, yet half the projected 1st rd players didn't work out.
If great work ethic and is coachable....perfect fit?
If we could get this dude in a trade down to 17-25 that would he ideal.

Don't want to take a guy at.11 who's gonna be there at 18-25

The only character concerns ive read about Nolan is stuff like self entitlement and all about the $$$. He's not out here with sexual assault cases and drunk driving or anything like that. I'm sure the teams can figure it out in the interviews and if he drops on draft night well have an idea if the concerns are valid or not. He should be the #2 or 3 dt off the board.
I've heard the character concerns and didn't want to like him. 1st play Vs LSU and you can see the burst and he had his guy on skates. That's what you want to see. I immediately knew who he was and could see the attention they paid to stop him wrecking the game. I'll do some more as I'm watching Dart, but I am impressed.
If the 49ers are intent on beefing up their defensive front then it would appear this is the draft to do it. Mason Graham, Kenneth Grant, and Walter Nolen are the clear-cut top 3 guys for me. Derrick Harmon is good but only had one year of solid production so he comes with some risk. Shemar Stewart could also be a beast but if I'm using an early-round pick I'd want to have seen more results from the prospect. I wouldn't know which guy fits the scheme the best but I do know that this defense, a Saleh led one, can't be what it needs to be without some nastiness up front. This is why I would lean towards Nolen over Grant because Nolen has tape showing that kind of mean streak we want up the middle of the defense. He was a 5-star recruit, he has displayed elite production at the collegiate level, balled out at the senior bowl. He's a pass rushing interior defender who is also elite against the run. What else do you want? Are we even sure he'll last until 11?

I can't say who the best pick at #11 would be since they have holes to fill at several positions. DL. Edge. OL. Corner. LB. All need upgrades. I find it hard to value one postion over another when all are important. A good right tackle that could some day become a left tackle is certainly a need. But is it mor eimportant than a really goodinterior D lineman that cn stop the run and also get pressure on the QB?

If it was my choice I would stay in the trenches. I know they could use a good CB that can cover the top receiver but I question how valuable they are since teams can scheme around them and target other players. DL can have an impact on every play. Same for OL. It will really depend on who's there at #11 and if they have any trades going on.

Agreed. As long as they get someone who is a really good player.
So what's the issue with this guy? from what I'm reading he can be disgruntled and lack consistency which is a big red flag especially if your going off his highlights. To me he plays maybe a bit too reckless but absolutely love how he pushes the pocket like him more than Grant
He should be the pick, in my opinion.

I've heard that he's selfish and motivated to earn money. In always wary of that. He'll be a first round pick, to some that's enough money, it's likely he'll earn a 2nd contract. Then will he stop working hard?

I want guys who love the game and want to be the greatest ever. Those guys never stop working, I don't hear that from Nolen.

And a boatload more, but yes, that's the vibe I'm getting. I'd be meeting with his strength coach, D-Line coach, High school coach, his family, his friends, his dog, his girl, his teachers, his classmates. Hack his social media, steal his phone before I drafted him.

But hey, if he checked out I'm in. Not as refined as Graham, probably more explosive, I have Graham higher, but he's not far off.

Why do people even suggest drafting a RT who may someday become a LT? To replace TW no less? No! If you want his eventual replacement, it should be a proven LT with plenty of experience. May have to trade up at some point depending on our record, but that's a pretty important position.
