The 2025 Senior Bowl Discussion Thread

One edge guy may look great agoinst wj hoever he's playing against nd the next edge guy might be up against a better or lesser quality player.

Players like to get into the flow of the game and it's hard to do that when you're in and out so much. I suspect the scouts and coaches that are down there put more emphasis on the workouts than they do on the actual game.

I was making this same point to someone earlier today. The practices are really what end up mattering the most—at least from a draft stock perspective.

Landon Jackson looked really impressive, reminds me of Max Crosby.

I don't think a team has ever traded just a 5th round pick move up to the 11th pick?

would you move back to 17 and get the 49th pick and give up the 112th pick?

so we would have 17, 43, 49, 75, 99 (as top 100 picks go).

I mean I would probably do that if there's not a guy there we are in love with.

If this opportunity presents itself and we don't want to go BPA (Warren/Starks) then we should definitely do this. Almost certainly would land Green/Membou/Pearce Jr/Mykel Williams/Simmons/Nolan/Stewart at #17.

ALL of those guys I'd feel a hell of a lot better drafting at #17 than at #11 and passing on an almost 100% guaranteed not going to bust blue chipper pro-bowler in Warren and a guy like Starks.. Plus we get that extra mid-2nd rounder for our trouble which is huge. That could land us an extra DL/EDGE/RB TOY FOR KYLE at #49 - something like Green at #17, Harmon at #43, Omarian Hampton at #49 ), D. Alexander at #75 and a LG at #99. Then nab one of the Iowa State WRs Higgens or Jaylin Noel at #111

Then sign Dalman and DJ Jones.

Done. Let's goooo

Yes, trade down if they get a great offer.
We have many needs:
We need two DT's, two CB's, DE, OT, C, .... and maybe LB, RB and WR depending on CMC, Aiyuk, Greenlaw, etc

Stay at 11 and take the player we want.

We have enough picks

Player we want may be a reeeach at #11.

Take the player worthy of being the eleventh player selected. The best player available should be the player we want. Reaches at 11 would be Nolan, Banks, Membou, Green,

And no we don't have enough picks. Our roster has taken a steep turn down the last couple years. Trading down in the 1st a fee spots could net us an extra 2nd or 3rd amd if want one of those reaches then at 16 or 17 they aren't reaches anymore and we let value meet need.

Starks and Warren are likely BPA at #11 so if we want someone else trade down or draft Starks/Warren as they are better football players than Nolan/Mambou/Green/Banks etc and I'd hate to pass on those two just to reach for need.
We won't be drafting this high anytime soon.

Now at #11 is a great chance of getting a really talented player that can be a cornerstone of the team for the next decade.

If BPA at #11 is Warren, Johnson or Starks just get that guy because we need to fill some holes but what we need the most is talent.

If we get a future All-Pro at #11 nobody is going to complain about the position he plays.

Why does everyone leave out Jeanty when discussing BPA at 11?

We seen how much CMC meant to pur redzone offense. Yes Kyle has made stars out of late round and UDFA but no one got the offense jumping like CMC. Jeanty can do alot of the same stuff.

I know Mason had a great year until CMC came back and his injury but the offense wasn't the same. True Trent and BA had something to do with that but not entirely.

If you are of the belief that CMC's 20+ carry days are behind him then Jeanty wouldn't be a bad play. As we sit here in 2025 my plan would be to keep Mason as primary back and use CMC in the redzone and 3rd downs. Yes that may work for a year or two but why not get the guy who cam do it all. Imagine Kyle having CMC from the beginning for 9 years. That could be what we get with Jeanty to a lesser degree.

I'm not saying that's what I would do. Though I wouldn't be mad if they did. Same with Warren.

I wouldn't be mad either but the thing with Jeanty is that we can find RB's everywhere.

This would be crazy imo. The #11 pick should be for an instant starter not a planned change of pace.

Several DT's and Edge players I would be stoked to draft in this Senior Bowl. Maybe two of each in First four rounds.

Savion Jones LSU
Landon Jackson Arkansas
Dariius Alexander To!edo
Tonka Hemingway South Caro!ina

Darius Alexander has the size and arm length to be an excellent DT at the next level.

I liked the fight in Savion Jones and Landon Jackson, would love to see if they can get them on day 3.
Let's logic this out..

Top 10 pick locks are:

1. Carter
2. Hunter
3. Ward
4. Sanders
5. Graham

Likely top 10 picks:

6. Will Johnson
7. McMillan
8. Campbell

BPA after those guys (combine can change things obv):
* Jeanty
* Warren
* Starks

Then is the next tier of guys which imo is extremely crowded and hard to grade and differentiate between these guys. Guy drafted at #22 prob has every bit a chance to be a star as the guy at #14-18 That's 13 players listed that I wouldn't mind taking at all... just not at #11 when Jeanty, Warren, and Starks are likely to be sitting there.

* Mykel Williams
* Pearce Jr.
* Mike Green
* Jalon Walker
* Walter Nolen
* Burden III
* Egbuka
* Simmons
* Banks
* Loveland
* Membou
* Harmon
* Stewart

So my logic is let's look at some teams just below us if we traded down and see the risk of missing out on a guy we'd want assuming they are in the list of those 13 guys above.

#12. Dallas - Strong possibility Dallas they take Jeanty or Burden III, both guys we probably would not take anyways.
#13. Miami - They could go in a lot of directions and take Starks or any of the 13 guys in the next tier below as they need OL/DL as well. Seen some mocks having them take Starks which makes sense.
#14. Indianapolis - So many mocks have the Colts taking Warren if he is there. I'll assume he doesn't last beyond this pick.
#15. Atlanta - Would take Starks or any of the 13 in the tier above
#16. Arizona - Would take Starks or any of the 13 in the tier above
#17. Cincinnati - Would take Starks or any of the 13 in the tier above
#18. Seattle - Would take Starks or any of the 13 in Tier above

So we can project Dallas and Indy taking Jeanty/Burden and Warren off the board. If Miami takes Starks, then by pick #15 ALL of the 13 guys listed together would be available.

Trade down with Atlanta to #15: Would receive their 3rd rounder at #79 and still have first choice of the 13.
Trade down with Arizona to #16: Would receive their 3rd rounder at #80 and their 4th rounder at #112 and we would have to give back a 7th. OR We could ask for their 2nd rounder at #48 and we would have to give our #99 and #111.
Trade down with Cincinnati to #17: Get their 2nd rounder at #49 and give back #99 and a 7th.
Trade down with Seattle to #18: Would get their 2nd rounder at #50 and we would give back a 4th round comp pick. Our picks would be #18, #43, #50, #75, #99, #11

Miami, Atlanta, Cincinnati, and Seattle (would think long and hard before I make a trade with them giving them Starks) need a S and could realistically target Starks at #11 if the 49ers don't want to go in that direction. If that was the case, the board would fall similar to:

#11 - Starks (trade w/ 49ers)
#12 - Dallas - Jeanty/Burden III
#13 - Miami - One of the 13 guys
#14 - Warren (if Indy isn't the one trading up to #11 - we could tell them hey we're taking Warren if you don't trade with us)
#15 - 49ers? (2nd choice of the 13 guys)
#16 - 49ers? (3rd choice of the 13 guys)
#17 - 49ers? (4th choice of the 13 guys)
#18 - 49ers? (5th choice of the 13 guys)

Even at #18 only 4 of those 13 guys are gone - hell what if Starks was still there at 15/16/17/18 + we get the extra picks. All of the options above net us additional valuable extra draft capital to replenish talent on our DL/OL in the 2nd/3rd rounds and we easily still get one of the guys we want at 15, 16, 17, 18 which all have similar grades.

Let's look at Mike Green...let's assume he's our first choice of the 13 guys DAL, MIA, and IND are def not taking Green when Warren/Starks are there and DAL going RB/WR. So if we trade down with ATL to #15 he is highly likely to still be there and we grab the extra 3rd at #79. That pick at #79 could net us Darius Alexander DL or a top G/S/EDGE/LB with little risk in that trade down to #15.

I like the idea of trading down to #17 and getting Cinci's 2nd rounder at #49. Green could still be there at #17 and if he isn't the board seems to like Nolen and if he is gone then one of Pearce Jr/Mykel Williams/Derrick Harmon/Membou/Simmons/Stewart/Jalen Walker will be there. Who's going to be upset landing any one of those guys + getting the extra pick in the 2nd. What if one of these 13 guys (say Membou) falls to late 20s now we have the ammo to trade back up and grab another one of those top guys if we want and still have a 2nd round pick #49 from the trade down.

Thinking out loud here. Sorry for the long-winded post, but really think a small trade down 4-6 spots can be VERY beneficial for the 49ers IF we have no desire to take a blue chip TE (Warren) or S (Starks) in the 1st round. All of this is subject to combine performances.

Shemar Stewart seems like such a 49ers pick. Dudes a monster and when he puts it all together he will be a game wrecker.

Just not at #11.

At #17-25 sure
