Lol like I said people are putting too much stock into bend, are you arguing that James Pearce Jr. doesn't have bend or he doesn't have bend like Brian Burns?

For me, you're acting like his game won't translate to the NFL, is that what you're saying?

Id argue that he'll never be your primary edge rusher; I don't think he has that ceiling. I have never seen him bend anywhere close to Brian Burns level, and i say he's league average in that regard. Pick 11 would be rich, imo.

He particularly "struggled" turning the 2nd hoop. Notice he is unable to maintain his speed while bending down to pick up the towel. He then pops straight up to re-accelerate. He is unable to maintain a close proximity to the hoop, chopping his feet at the apex of the second turn.

its not the end all be all, and its not a terrible rep, but this is not the rep to display a lack of hip tightness.

Off the top of my head, this is one player i remember having a good rep

Swinson is a underrated EDGE imo

lance zierlein, Dane Bruglar and Jon Ledyard (who's opinion I value regarding DL scouting) have all stated the same stuff.

I agree with you, I don't think he's gonna be a team's primary edge guy. Doesn't mean he won't be successful and be part of a good DL rotation. Not for me at 11

You've never seen bend at Brian Burns level, you're basing this off some hoop drill and what people say. Do you have Brian Burns doing the hoop drill? And you don't think he'll ever be your primary pass rusher, why because YOU say he doesn't bend? Yet, you pointed out Daniel Jeremiah scouting report, the same Daniel Jeremiah that's comparing him to Brian Burns, do you see the contradiction here? Forget the comparisons, you don't see his get off at the LOS, speed, hand fighting and power in his play? You say stiff hips, lol did you not see him in coverage for a pick 6. Again, you're basing you opinion putting too much stock into the Combine, hence posting the hoop drill. lol

No one said that…we're talking about traits and some people are putting unrealistic comps on guys.

he's your dude, that's cool. I would be super underwhelmed with him at 11. I don't think SF will go that direction.

Naw you people put too much stock in the Combine. I've shown you guys breakdowns of James Pearce, no argument there from you, only drill from the Combine. First you told me that Daniel Jeremiah didn't even have him as a 1st round pick, Combine comes around he has him as his 21st prospect. Doesn't compare to Brian Burns, yet the very person you reference is using Brian Burns as a comp. You once told me Pearce doesn't have power from your past argument, yet Pearce is knocking down a OT to make the sack.

James Pearce is fourth on my list not really my guy, I'm just showing you how silly this argument is.

It shows up in his film. He doesn't win like Burns especially as a bendy/twitchy edge.

he's explosive off the LOS and uses that speed to beat lesser athletic OTs. He's got okay power when rushing. That's something he can get better at. He's not gonna be a 3 down guy in our scheme early on (if ever).

He's very much a linear rusher. Good bad whatever it's his body structure and how he' built. Very similar to Leonard Floyd and Randy Gregory imo

I don't hate him or anything, if he's there in the 2nd that's a different story. Another team who runs a different scheme will value him a bit more.

I was saying all this before the combine. It backs up my thoughts and what some others were saying.

I said he doesn't have the power to set the edge and be a good run defender for a scheme like ours. He's not a base down DE. I didn't say he has zero power as a pass rusher.

only one being silly here is you my dude. It's cool you like him and are clearly finding any way to defend him. I don't hate him, imo it's an underwhelming pick at 11 and toss the character stuff that's starting to come out.

Donovan Ezeiruaku plays like Burns much more than Pearce. Pearce is more Floyd and Gregory imo.
Literally his NFL draft profile…and the length isn't really there at sub 33" arms at 6-5

Overview

Pearce is a tight-hipped, linear pass rusher with explosive take-offs and good speed-to-power but a lack of bend to flatten at the top. His high pressure rate is partially derived from an instinctive feel for positioning, allowing him to work around protection for quick wins into the pocket. He's very long but narrow through his hips, so the build-out of his frame might be limited. Pearce knows how to play around blocks and has the speed to close and tackle, but his base is naturally narrow and lacks bend. He'll need to improve his strength and technique as an NFL run defender. Despite those concerns, Pearce's length, twitch and rush production create a higher ceiling.

You're literally ignoring what Baldy said about him. If Baldy said he didn't have bend about Pearce, you would fully use that in your argument.

If you watched that hoop drill and think he had some great bend, then I don't know what to tell ya. It's all over his film as well.

baldy says a whole bunch of s**t all the time, doesn't mean he's right 100% of the time. No one is. It's not that I'm ignoring what one guy says. I'm listening to what multiple people have said and what I see when I watch him play.

dude has short arms, is light in the pants, has tight hips and is a linear pass rusher. If you're down for that cool, that's your opinion.. I'm not gonna argue with you about it anymore.

proof is in the pudding and we will see what he becomes down the road, he's got a spot in the league, as you're primary EDGE? I don't think so, not for me at 11.

It's not just Baldy though, you once used Daniel Jeremiah to back up your argument though and Jeremiah compared him to Burns. PFF once had him as the #1 overall pick. So what they're wrong too? And I'm not trying to say Pearce has great bend, but lets not act like he doesn't have any at all or I doubt he'd be as successful as a DE in the SEC.

First it was bend, now you're going outta your way and trying to find every thing to slam this kid. Short arms, light in the pants are you f**kin serious do you even believe some of the stuff you say. Do you even know WTF you're talking about!!!
