2025 Draft Class: IDL

He knows how to work a rush plan and adjusts to a secondary rush if he stalls. Dude has a filthy outside spin move, which is wild because DL coaches teach not to spin outside. Crazy activity and effort.

It's such a shame that he's just 6ft, 282 pounds. But I could totally see Kocurek liking him because this dude GOES.

His measurable are identical to Calijah Kancey who went 19th overall two years ago to the Bucs.

Kancey had 7.5 sacks in his 2nd year and was also compared to John Randle coming out.

The problem with these undersized DT's is they can't hold up vs the run and double teams.

Kancey had a 64.5 pass rush grade but a 36.2 run defense grade according to PFF.

It's the same argument with undersized ends. Mike Green compares to Will McDonald from the Jets. McDonald had 10.5 sacks last year and a 73.9 pass rush grade but was one of the worst ends vs the run with a 39.5 rating.
There are so many good IDL in this draft that I feel the strength of the group may end up being in the middleish rounds(~3-4). I could easily see the 49ers trading back (hell, multiple times), not grab a IDL until round 3 and still walk out of the draft looking pretty with a crazy good IDL group.

If the 49ers grabbed 2 run stuffers and 2 pure penetrators, I'd be pretty damn happy. A haul with, for example, Jamaree Caldwell, Thor Griffith, Aeneas Peebles, and Omarr Norman-Lott would immediately change the dynamic of the defensive line.

I came into the process screaming no more tiny IDL and here I am with Peebles as one of my favorite IDL in the draft.

I feel the exact same way man.

If we don't go DLine at 11, I'm really hoping Will Campbell is available at 11. I have zero faith in Trent Williams this year. I think he's like Deebo. He got his money and packed it in. I wouldn't be opposed to a trade.

But my later round guys for the DL are Josh Farmer (Rd 3), Ty Robinson (Rd 3), DE- Tyler Baron (Rd 4), and Ty Hamilton (Rd 5)

Yeah I'm a fan. Would love him on day 3.

Peebles reminded me of Hargrave when I watched him play. I then looked up Hargrave's combine numbers, and funny enough, If he put on weight his combine numbers and measurables would be near identical.

I don't want him for the simple fact of 9moon giving him the "Fruity" nickname
I found another guy I need the 49ers to draft: Chidozie Nwankwo. This dude is an absolute tank at 5-11, 300 pounds. I'm not sure if it's the number, build or the arm brace, but he low-key reminds me of Grady Jarrett--short, powerful and compact. If you want to see the human embodiment of low-man wins, watch Nwankwo. Wrestling background: dummy strong. On my wishlist for day-3/UDFA.

baby Grady Jarrett

Why is Harmon so polarizing? Some love him, some hate him.

I imagine one real season of serious production and that was on a talented Oregon team. Some folks he's a little stiff which limits his athletic ability. Personally I'm a big fan. I think he's got a great combination of size, athletic ability and to me I see the big season with Oregon more as development and change of scheme doing him good.

No joke, I think a lot of it stems from fans put off by his frame and body composition. He's got a funky high-cut build with bad weight in his upper body. Dude is built like a fat basketball player.

Yeah and he kinda came out of nowhere. Personally I'm a fan. I wouldn't be upset if he was our 1st rd pick.

I'm a fan too. But @ 11? That's too rich for me and I'd take someone else. Waaaaay too many good DTs to reach for him at 11 IMO

I'd like to see the 9ers trade down to the 20's and see if Nolen or Harmon will be there. Would be good if they could pick up another 2nd round pick.

Yeah, I get the feeling we're gonna get stuck with no obvious selection.
unless someone unexpectedly falls, I really really want to trade down. I would even take a little less value as long as we don't get bent over.
We need to really hope that Jeanty, Wallen, are still there when we pick, I think those are a few that someone may move up for.
If we can get the same player at say 20 that you can get at 11 that would soften the blow of getting a little less value in a trade down.

In my ideal world they trade down and go Nolen or Harmon. Like others said not sure we will be able to move down.

honestly we're in kinda a weird spot, they're either gonna reach a little for a good player at a need or draft a guy who doesn't play an impactful position/we already have talent there

I'm warming up to Johnson, also if he's CB1 in this draft I don't understand why he would be there at 11.

FWIW they need more than one good DT.
