Nick Martin, looks like a sideline to sideline player, fits our need for a speedy LB

this Carson Schwesinger kid has some crazy ass instincts. Stupid fast trigger in the run game. He seems to avoid a read step but instead goes towards the play every time. I'm surprised there isn't more buzz in here for him with the 49ers needing a LB.

I keep seeing him in the 2nd and want to pull the trigger.

Dude has ELITE instincts. You can't teach that. His 90 solo tackles are proof of that.

Watch film of Dee Winters. He's always late diagnosing the play but his speed and athleticism make up for it. Fred Warner always keys on the play and then Winters is a step behind.

But a guy like Schweshinger has the instincts to read and react instantly. There's no wasted movement. He reminds me of Luke Kuechly how he would know the play before the offense ran it and got everyone lined up pre-snap.

Fred Warner is the smartest and most instinctive LB in the game today. Imagine having two of them?

He also had probably the best year statistically of any LB with 136 tackles (90 solo), 8.5 tackles for loss, 4.0 sacks, two interceptions, and one blocked punt. Schwesinger led the Big Ten in total tackles, total tackles per game (11.3), solo tackles (90), solo tackles per game (7.5) and double-digit-tackle performances (nine)

The one year wonder thing concerns me though but 90 solo tackles is just insane.

IMO it's him, Demetrius Knight or Chris Paul if we were to take a LB.

Is that why it he's not getting buzz? Only 1 year of production and no athletic testing? My boy told me "dude, you need to watch Carson Schwesinger." I'm kind of blown away because the tape is crazy. His NFL draft profile lists him at 6-2 1/2 and 242...prototypical height and weight ala Patrick Willis, Luke Kuechly, etc. I don't get why there isn't more buzz surrounding him? This dude screams first-round pick to me...What am I missing here? Injury/medicals? Character concerns?

It feels weird typing this, but this dude definitely does give Luke Kuechly vibes on tape…this is some of the most impressive LB instincts I've seen since the Roquan/Fred year except this dude has better instincts than both of those guys. I say this as someone whose forum receipts will show I LOVED Fred and Roquan.

This is the first player in the 2025 draft that I'm adding to my my guy's list.

Ya I don't know. The one year of starting doesn't help but it's probably because he is white. It's the Tom Brady syndrome I think. I loved Cooper DeJean last year too and he deserved to be a top 20 pick. His tape was some of the best DB tape I've ever seen. I desperately wanted him in round 1 but he dropped to round 2 and the Eagles got a perennial Pro Bowler IMO. The same thing will probably happen with Carson.

But the dude was a walk on to UCLA and within 4 years was a finalist for the Butkus award and led the nation in solo tackles and was a first team All American. The way he diagnoses and attacks is NFL ready. He slips blockers, he keys runs, he is an ELITE tackler. He is deadly as a A and B gap blitzer. He is good in zone coverage and is never out of position. He has sideline to sideline speed and a non-stop motor. And there isn't a smarter linebacker than him in college football and literally never bites on play action bootlegs. He has good size and zero character concerns. He literally has no negatives other than maybe being too aggressive and sometimes gets washed out.

The sky is the limit with this kid. I'd definitely pull the trigger at 2.43. He will put up 150 tackles and make a Chris Borland type impact as a rookie. Mark my words.

The Luke Kuechly comps are for real. Him and Warner side by side would give coordinators nightmares.

Cheers Hero, next on my watchlist, even though I'm supposed to be doing offensive guys for fantasy!!!! Will try and watch him playing against those types.
Cosell talking LBs. He touches on Carson Schwesinger at 21:29. He basically raves about everything we've been talking about. His biggest concern with concern is his lack of physicality. He said Carson is so fast with his trigger and athleticism that he rarely has to beat blocks because he gets to his spot so fast and worries about him holding up in the NFL.

I read they tried to sign E.J. Speed but that he finally signed with Houston,... so there's no more decent LB with some experience left in FA,... they need to take a day-1 starter LB in this draft

IMO they have to select Demetrius Knight Jr. or Carson Schwesinger with the 43 pick

they had a pre-draft meeting with Schwesinger:

and after selecting a LB with the 43th pick, they should try to get another LB in later rounds,... there's some depth in this LB class,.... prospects like Kobe King, Cody Simon or Teddye Buchanan are expected to go late Day-3 and all 3 are very complete playerss, very good both in coverage and against the run

and even after drating these 2 LB (2nd round and 6th-7th), they should sign another one as UDFA, the LB room need a considerable overhaul,.... I like David Gbenda a lot in the UDFA range,... quite experienced having played for Texas for 6 years,... and very complete player also,... good in coverage and excellent against the run,.. very aggressive tackler,... has the dawg in him

Call it a feeling but I've always felt the team will select 4-5 dlineman in this draft and at least 2 linebackers. I project they'll take at least 1 linebacker in the top 100. I would love Schwesinger. His film doesn't lie. The kid is a stud. I think there are a fair amount of underrated linebackers in this class though that can contribute from day 1.
