Malaki Starks-S-Georgia

33" vert is horrible. I expected wayyy better measurables for a guy that's suppose to be a top 10 talent

Combine isn't the end all be all, tape is much better…but if I'm using a top 11 pick on a S, he's gotta be an elite athlete imo.

Perfect. He should fall to us at 2.43 then

He won't, but that makes more sense. I won't be shocked if Emmanwori goes higher than him.
The dream at 11 has died lol. Still a very high floor player and the bust potential is extremely low. I'm on team trade back now.

Yep. Teams always over draft these workout warriors and it rarely works out. Taylor Mays anyone?

Why not just take a guy who can flat out play and has it between the ears instead of someone who is big and can run fast?

Teams never learn.

It is a pipe dream that Lynch is gonna draft a Safety at #11. Starks is a solid player a game changer, who I'd take in a heartbeat at #11. Would love to see Lynch do the unthinkable though and take a Safety in the 1st round.

Huh? Emmanwori can flat out play and is an elite athlete. You say Mays I'll say Derwin James.

Why? This team has shown they don't need to take a S high to have a good defense. In fact most NFL teams have shown you don't need to invest high there.

you need to be a special player/athlete to warrant getting pick that high. There's a reason safeties don't go high in drafts.

Underwhelming testing, but an elite 10 yard split, and looked super smooth in drills. Still a first half of 1st round player for me in this draft.

Why, cause Starks is a damn hawk!!!! Cooper DeJean was a beast for Philly last season and was a big part in winning the Super Bowl. 49ers have had good Safeties, but not like Starks.

Exactly. Good football players win you games no matter the position.

Yes, you can find positions like RB and S later on (the same can be said for any position really) but if there is a special player at those positions you grab them and don't think twice.

Do you think the Eagles regret signing Barkley or the Ravens regret drafting Kyle Hamilton 14th overall?

But most of us don't think he's that special of a player. I think he is good but not special. Starks allowed a 99.6 QB rating against him last year. Had 35 receptions against him last year alone. Had only 5 forced incompletions tied for 102nd in the nation. His highest coverage grade in his college career is 78.3. All that with a stacked Georgia defense that could have 6 players drafted in this years class.

You compare him to Kyle Hamilton who only allowed 39 receptions during his entire college career. He had an 89.3 coverage grade. Hamilton was a much better S prospect then Starks and he still wasn't a top 10 pick.

Good players at impactful positions win you games.

Eagles can sign Barkley because they already have impactful players at meaningful positions in place.

SF has been going to SBs and NFCC without having to break the bank at S.

Why are you even bringing up Hamilton? They're not even close to the same profile of player.

Depends if the plyer is impactful and Malaki Starks is, the kid is a ballhawk that can change the momentum of the game. Sure Hufanga was all-pro, but a bunch of his picks came from tipped passes, dude got burnt more than he made plays. Hufanga missed more tackles than he made plays. The Shanahan's 49ers have never had a Safety with the ball skills that Starks has, he plays the deep ball Ed Reed-like style. If he's there and the 49ers pass on him, I bet we'll regret it.

Malik Hooker was a ball hawk in college, folks in here wanted go spend a high end first for him. True single high FS. I don't even know where he plays now.

If we pass on him I don't think it's gonna make or break this defense at all. I'll take Mukuba (who's a ball hawk in is own right) bowman jr or Wilson jr on day 2 over Starks at 11.

s**t I think Emmanwori can be just as impactful if used properly.

Passing on him won't make or break the defense that's nonsense talk. I'm just saying he's a playmaker who I think we'll regret passing on him.

Malik Hooker every single years he plays he's made plays, looking him up he's playing for Dallas now.
