C, LG, RT are the biggest needs on offense, Membou can't play any of these positions?

Good Night everyone.

Why are we wanting to replace McKivitz? Don't we have enough holes without creating more?

Hennesey will be fine as competition for Brendel. There isn't one rookie who's better than either of them aside from maybe Grey Zabel but we aren't using a 1st on a center.

LG yes.

You asked what is one of our biggest needs on offense, and I showed you that its our offensive line and gave you 3 positions to where it needs to be addressed. Membou can definitely fill one of those holes and much likely improve it. It's not that hard to understand.

Membou would be a day 1 starter at LG then be our starting RT after 2025 when Colton is a FA.

I got no problem with that as long as the plan is to push him to OT.

no way in hell am I using a top 100 pick on OG in this draft, especially with everything else we need.

Also could be Trent's replacement.

Has Membou shown he can play LG when all he has ever played is RT?

Trent is still here and signed for 3 more years. Why are we looking to replace him?

Well I disagree that our Oline is even a weakness.

That same Oline helped pave the way for the 4th most YPG in the league.

All without Trent Williams and Aaron Banks for half the year. Aiuyk for the whole year. Pearsall got shot and our most important player CMC barely played.

Get a LG and we will be fine.

Because he'll be 37 when the season starts and he's already had a litany of injury issues.

But he's still starting now right?

Or do we use a premium pick on a tackle just incase as a backup while we have 6 possibly 7 starting positions open on defense?
And for the record I'm all for drafting a OT when we need one. But as of now we have our starters in place and they are good ones.

I was the only 49er fan on the planet who wanted McGlinchey because I knew Shanahan couldn't run his offense with Trent Brown at RT.

You dont use a premium pick on a backup just incase our starters get hurt or incase they retire in 2 years or move that tackle out of position to guard. It makes no sense when we have so many positions to fill on D.

Eagles have been drafting guys a year early for years. No idea why we'd think about doing that. You can't do things like you're suggesting, especially with older players. Trent has been through a lot personally and with injuries, he could retire at any point. Also it's one of the most important positions in football and you might miss when you need to replace him. Having his possible replacement on the roster just makes sense. Especially if he can fulfill a role whilst learning from the big man himself.

You don't force it, but you're far too focused on needs, we need to draft as many good or hopefully great players as we can.

Sure. Thats a great philosophy.

But none of the tackles available at 11 will be the BPA. This is a weak tackle draft. There isn't one guy who moves the needle.

This whole convo started from a mock of 49ers trading up for Membou.

You can draft someone to replace Williams and have them start on the OL this year, the two are not mutually exclusive.

Well I'm not spending the 11th overall on a LG. And unless that future LT who will take over for Williams can play center because those are the only two positions I feel like we need to upgrade.

Well it's a slight problem when we have 6 or 7 open spots on D that absolutely need to be filled before we even think about a replacement for TW.

You draft the BPA at a position of NEED.

As for the Eagles, they seem to stack picks on the DL every year.

Their Oline has a 7th, 3- 2nds and a 1st round pick starting, that first round pick Lane Johnson was picked in 2013. They picked up a starting RG in Beckton off the scrap heap last year.

Speaking of Lane, he's 34 years old. Will they be looking to find his replacement this year?

Wow, that's some crystal ball, you should lay some big money on draft night.

I think there's a possibility either Campbell or Membou are there. Pats will probably take one. Then the Jets, Panthers or Saints all could but I think they look elsewhere. I think both move the needle, I think both could develop into starting LT's, and be great Guards in our scheme until they do.

I'd draft Graham over either, but not sure there's anyone else I would take over them.

What makes you think he can't play either? That's a silly rebuttal
