Taking Pearsall in the first only makes sense if you intend to let Aiyuk walk

I meant week 1 of this coming season

Dang, the more I show this guy, the more he is turning into a favorite

We have offensive and defensive line needs and huge holes. We don't need a TE. We have the best TE in the league. The Eagles and Lions build the TRENCHES. That's why they are good. Why the Eagles can beat the Chiefs too and we can't.

So what

Don't need to burn a 1st on them just because

Spending a 1st in a TE this year is about as STUPID as spending a 1st on a WR last year. For this team. But it would not surprise me at all. Given their track record.

When healthy it's one of the very best rosters in the nfl. I hope they keep doing EXACTLY what they've been doing.
It really isn't they have holes everywhere.

no they don't, they had injuries everywhere

We were a few drops and few missed FGs away from winning the division in a disastrous season.

Everyone healthy is a repeat of the 2023 regular season

He ain't juice though. He can't run block like he can and that's primarily his role.

you want to keep the same scheme half his time on the field is run blocking and pass protection all the same. Sweet he get 25 targets a yr.

So I have been on the fence with this for about a month. I haven't even really researched him because I didn't think there is any way we draft this guy but then I got thinking:

1- What if we don't extend Kittle? He's turning 32 paid a pile of money and is always banged up.

2- Lets assume we will extend Kittle for another 3 years taking him into his 35 year old season. I have thought for years Shanahan truly wants a dominant 1-2 TE set like the Pats had with Gronk and Hernandez. Kittle and Warren would be an absolute nightmare for defenses. Teams don't have two linebackers on the field who can cover two TEs like that.

I have no doubt that if we drafted Warren Shanahan would have him on the field for the majority of the stats.

3- It's a good likelihood that at 11 Warren will be the BPA. Watching some of his film and man, he is going to be a star in the league. Plus he seems to be a leader like Kittle and has the work ethic and drive to work on his blocking (he's pretty good at it anyways) and who better to learn from than Kittle

4- He can be a FB and line up in the backfield, slot, out wide and inline. We are losing Deebo and I'm sure Warren can do the things Deebo did as far as mismatches.

It's not so far fetched. Maybe Mason Graham falls and he would be a home run pick but who else at 11 could be as big of an impact player? Would we be reaching on a player for a need and pass on a superior player?

There's no reason to not pay Kittle. Also Warren ain't Kittle.

he's not a inline TE. His blocking overall isn't remotely close to Kittle or imo a plus trait. Overall I don't even think he's an elite level TE.

if Kyle wanted a dominant 2 TE set he wouldn't be drafting WRs all over the place. He would have legit invested in another TE. They had an amazing starting in 2023 that was flush with real TEs and they over drafted a s**t TE that never played a down for us.

IMO it's a dumb idea considering what we actually need to make everything else go.

everyone is entitled to their opinion on this, I think it's extremely unlikely for a multiple reasons.

Yeah because he got shot. Clearly they chose between BA and Deebo and went with the younger WR that can actually beat man coverage.
Hear me out. Please don't waste the 11th pick on this guy. Go OL. Colston Loveland may be available later due to his surgery. He is TE 1B

They absolutely do and the fact that they remained in the hunt for the division as long as they did speaks to the quality of the division more than anything else.

This team was never going to be on par with '23 healthy or not.

so the same SB team from 23 has too many holes?

now that is some major b******t lol

Every team does at this time of the year. Thats what free agency and the draft is for.

We also have a pile of cap space and 10 draft picks.

When healthy, there isn't one team in the league that has our star power.

I don't think it will happen but I can see why Shanahan would want this guy.

Warren absolutely is an inline TE. His blocking isn't dominant but he's no slouch. I think we are just spoiled with Kittle who may be the best blocking TE ever.

I mean really, unless we want Kenneth Grant, James Pearce or Malachi Starks on D or we want to draft Kelvin Banks and put him at LG for a year or a guy like Mason Graham or Will Johnson drops Warren might be the BPA when we pick and he would absolutely make a difference and make us harder to play against.

Everyone is saying trade down but it takes two to tango.

Go sign Conklin, wanted him during the draft. Go get Dwelley back. Tommy Tremble was a guy folks liked here.

draft a guy on day 2/3. We don't need another play maker at pick 11 who's not gonna be running routes full time here.

He is not absolutely an inline TE. Not a good one yet anyway. Folks toss out Gronk comps but he's is simply not there as a receiver or blocker…maybe one day, but being big and catching 50/50 balls doesn't make you Gronk.

here's a draft breakdown of him (which I agree with mostly)

Tyler Warren projects as a starting 'F' tight end at the NFL level. He is at his best detached from the core and utilized as a blocker against safeties, linebackers, and corners. He's a capable split-flow player and offers the necessary raw strength to play in line.

That said, his blocking posture, punch placement, and center of gravity need to show growth before he's charged with playing as a 'Y' tight end with his hand in the dirt. In the meantime, Warren can thrive as an underneath zone buster and red zone target capable of creating added yardage with the ball in his hands. 12p and hybrid 21p teams will find his versatility overly attractive in their bid to generate mismatches on the field.

Can Kyle find ways to use him? Absolutely. Do I expect them to magically go away from using a legit FB? No I do not. Do I expect SF to all of a sudden used 12p all the time? I do not.

I don't see Warren as a full-time player here. I see him as more of a gimmicky schemed up guy and someone who would play in RZ packages. There's value there…not at 11 when we NEED 3 down guys.

would love tremble. I dont want a TE early, just saying Loveland may fall.

No doubt. I want to be on record that drafting Warren isn't the worst possible outcome and I get why folks like him.

I would prefer to go in a different direction
