They would scramble around and wait for a guy to get open. Even the best DBs can only cover one guy at a time. Most teams typically have at least 3 receivers on passing plays.

5 seconds? Only in the pro bowl

Crossing my fingers they can do well drafting the trenches this year that CB becomes an option for 26 in the first.

I'm a big fan of Cobee Bryant at CB on day 2/3

Not as easy to do as you make it sound. CBs also don't have to cover for more than 3+ seconds that often. In fact, what you need is corners who can cover for 3 seconds. That will help your DL get to the QB. If you have so-so guys playing 8-10 yards what good is that pressure?

I completely understand the frustration with guys playing 8-10 off, it's why I want a legit press man CB. That's something Johnson and Barron aren't exactly known for.

I get both ends helping each other to make it all work. I think whatever scheme you run the most, will determine how much you value CBs as well.

SF clearly depends on their DL to get upfield in a hurry to get pressure. It's the bloodline of their defense. Not really the CB play. I fully expect them to attack this draft looking at DL more than anything else. Most likely on all 3 days of the draft.

I said 3-5. Five would be a long time but it happens when teams are in a prevent. Certainly when the QB starts scrambling. Ideally it's 3 seconds or less.

He would make sense.

8 drafts and never a db drafted above the 64th pick. It's what it is at this point. Too many needs this year to think they will change.
Man I reading that SF had literally everyone at that Oregon pro-day. Like an unprecedented amount of higher end personnel guys there.

Derrick Harmon 👀

dude fits the mold of what we love at DT. I feel like 11 would be a reach BUT in a trade down I would be good with it.

The other DT seems like he'd be a great fit as well

Like I said...there are multiple players I'd love to grab from that squad.

Harmon, Conerly, Burch, Bassa, Caldwell - give me all 5 of them and we're a MUCH better team for it.

I'd be fine with Conerly on day 2. He's got some great movement skills. I think he lacks in his anchor and can get thrown around. He has a tendency to overset because of that lack of anchor (strength) which can get him into trouble. We saw it just in that one rep vs Green at the SB.

It's only an hour flight from Santa Clara. Easier and cheaper for everyone to get there. They wouldn't even need to stay overnight.

And Jabbar Muhammad, Jordan Burch, Terrance Ferguson
I think Bassa and Ferguson are two guys that the 49ers will have substantial interest in. Both fit the profiles of what they look for at those positions.

do you think he needs to put on some more weight? he looks kinda thin for a linebacker and more like a safety. His coverage skills are pretty dam good though and he seems like a good tackler
