2025 Draft Prospect Watch List and Discussion

I'm not saying we're going to start sending loads of blitzes, I'm saying that we use A gap stuff (with or without actually sending them) and theres plenty of him to do on base downs, and I believe he can become a very good obvious pass down rusher.

IMO that is not worth a top 11 pick. Especially with this scheme. Like I said I feel like he's more Nolan Smith than Parsons.

Again we will see how it goes down.

That's fair, and I know you don't think he'll become a great pass rusher, but if he's Dee Ford level with the other stuff is that good enough for #11 for you?

Too much projection for me at 11 BUT the measurables and "what if" is pretty interesting

Looks like Justin Smith on that rep.

Ford who was regarded as undersized was 10lbs heavier and his arms were almost an inch longer at the combine.

he was a double digit sack guy coming into the draft and wasn't a top 11 pick.

I think someone like Ford/Walker can absolutely make any team better. I'm not gonna be pissed if he's the pick…however at this point I see him as a DPR here in SF…If I was drafting him purely on his off ball LBer traits, he's not a 1st rd pick for me.

I'll play devils advocate, what if he's Nolen Smith? Is that enough for you to take him top 11?

If he leads the team in sacks during the playoffs on the way to a SB win yes 😄

i mean helps when the rest of the DL is destroyed that OL consistently.

I'm sorry, you can't tell me you'd spend a top 11 pick on Nolan Smith.

both are good football players. Smith isn't the bread and butter of that DL.

There are so many ways the Niners can go with the 11th pick. I'm actually looking forward to Friday and Saturday more since they have so many picks and the talent isn't that different from the first round for many of the players that will be available.

Also if you think Walker might be good…why are you not pounding the table for Donovan Ezeiruaku? I know you were a Burns guy, he's about as close as it gets imo

I can argue he's a MUCH more polished EDGE. He actually has a ton production and his measurables are better.

Exactly! We literally could draft any position and still be able to get very high quality trench players thereafter.

I'm nervously excited for Friday. I just have a feeling they're going to draft the one position I'm really hoping they don't at 11. That being DE. I just don't like any of them projected to go around that spot.

I feel like the trench players (DL) that are projected to go day 2/3 are gonna go higher than we all assume…that's where the talent is. You can never have too many trench players.

I get the overall talent at EDGE at 11 aren't slam dunk guys…if they were they wouldn't make it to us.

I'm preparing for a letdown at 11 lol
Here's to an interesting week and hoping the FO makes good decisions, in this edition of the draft.
It's unrealistic to think the team can replace all the starters lost during the offseason with one draft, ( was it 7 or more ? ). But With 11 picks they should be able to maneuver around the board to get some of the players they have keyed in on. IMO, If they can get 3 quality starters and 2 or 3 solid developmental prospects, I for one, would consider that a pretty good draft. I heard someone say once, that you "select the player not the position " which to me simply means one has be absolutely honest in their evaluation and projections as to any given players strengths and weaknesses as it pertains to their own team's players. i.e how much better or worse is that player going to be compared to the player ( or position ) you're trying to improve or replace on your own team. Of course it all subjective, that's what makes it so difficult and speculative to get it right with so many selections and the total success rate of players in the league selected tends to bear that out.
I certainly don't know who the best players or even the starters will turn out to be and I tend to laugh at many people who think, ( and act ), like they know for sure who's going to be great or even succeed. It's easy to say get the BPA vs need or vice versa, but it's usually some combination of both.
Good luck to our FO on their selections and to our team in this here draft.

As am I. I'd much rather "over draft" Ezeiruaku at 11 than to go Carter, Williams, Pearce or Stewart. . I actually think I'd rather take my chances on Green's character than to draft either of them.

That's fair, no, I wouldn't take Nolan Smith, but I love his heavy hands and feel very good about the ceiling. Could scrape a 1st for me as an off the ball LB as in picks 27-32 but wouldn't have a 1st round grade.
