If Jones, Fields or Wilson we will still have a chance. But not to start and hopefully not for any this yr. Kyle's scheme takes 6 mos to learn according to most QBs, coaches, etc. So count on JG, but if injured, we still have a shot.

Though I have Jones higher than most, I don't think we traded that much to play it safe. Lynch and Shanny are targeting a guy with a very high ceiling, even if they might never reach it. Hopefully either Lance or Fields lives up to their potential.

Almost same here...but honestly, i can't loose because i like all 3. Lance would be 3rd due to inexperience. High ceiling., long time to get him ready. To me Jones or Fields...how could we lose with that as a choice? We all know Fields highlites and they are spectacular. Match that with Jones 41 TDs, 4 INTs, 4500 yds and 77% completion. guys who are going ape dump over Jones are disregarding this dude just came off one stellar yr.

either guy is a winner for us and i like both equally well. Add Wilson to that group also, if he happens to be there. Possible fields would be gone to Jets so it could be jones or Wilson and Wilson is fantastic. We can't lose here, guys. Accept it.

1. 49ers will trade down twice; once to Atl so they can have their Georgia boy, once to Detroit so they can reach for an edge rusher, we get Jones, and with those extra picks the 49ers trade up for Najee Harris

Its not that Jones is a bad prospect, its that this is not good value for him. I read a quote somewhere from Bill Parcells that was basically something like, "if you like a player, don't get cute, just take them."

But in today's cap salary, teams must get good value in the draft. This is why I love Shannahan as a coach, but he needs a firm vet GM that can say, 'Kyle, be patient, "X-player" will be there.

How do you know that Slater is going to be any good? He may or may not be great, and he may or may not be a bust.

I could flip Fields and Lance because of the endless upsides, which is always enticing, but I think I'd feel a bit more comfortable with the current-higher floor of Fields. I'm good with either one. I didn't want Jones when we were picking 12th, so to say I'd be disappointed if we took him after trading all that capital would be an understatement.

I do believe this move was made for Lance. I have to take Kyle/Lynch at face value.....as Kyle has admitted to 'evolving' in his assessement of the QB position, and that Jimmy Garoppolo will be the starter for SF this season. That sort of tells me that they need his veteran presence while the rookie sits and learns, and that all points to Lance. Of course, it all could be fluff.

Sometimes I think we put too much stock in the belief that a rookie can't lead a team to a SB. That's usually true since the top QBs typically go to a bad team. That's why so many fail. In this case, whoever the Niners pick is going to a team tha tis well stocked on offense and defense. They have one of the best offensive minds in the game. Jimmy was able to win 5 games in 2017 without knowing the entire offense and that team wasn't near as good as this one. I would still prefer an experienced QB but I'm not 100% sure that a rookie couldn't win with this team. If he's a fast learner and the team stays healthy, I think it's possible. Keep in mind that a guy that can make some plays with his running can make up for not knowing all the passing game. Rookies who can run have created headaches for other teams. Kap did it. Murray did it.
