THIS is gonna be good... picking between Horn and (WR) JaMar Chase will be harder than Trevor or Fields..

I'll make it easier for you then. We have ZERO CBs signed beyond this season and we just drafted our #1 and #2 WRs in consecutive drafts. And anyone that knows football knows which position of the two is more important than the other. Before you say Chase is some generational WR talent, Horn has every bit of a chance to be a lockdown CB in the league. End of day moot point cause we aren't getting either, our 1st round pick will be spent on Wilson

I never said I'd take Chase over Horn because my belief is that WR comes out every year.. and they are only as good as their QBs..

I've seen Chase lots of times and that's why he would be ranked higher in my draft board, but I'd like to see Horn cover more NFL type WRs..

We are definitely not taking Chase and he probably won't be around when we pick. But I would love him on this team if we didn't find Aiyuk or Deebo

Here's the thing: if the 49ers are going to stay predominantly a zone team, it's better to invest in the DL than CB because you can find zone CBs waaay later. It's the man coverage guys that are coveted, but the 49ers don't play much man.

Maybe we don't play a lot of man coverage because we don't have those type of CB's

Which is by design. Saleh wants to run a zone-heavy scheme. This is also why the investments have been made in the DL first and foremost.

I was saying this all last yr....you invest early in CB if you play a ton of man.

16. San Francisco 49ers: Jaycee Horn, CB, South Carolina

San Francisco has several cornerbacks in the final year of their deals, pushing the position to the top of the offseason needs list. Horn, who is the son of former NFL pro Joe Horn, needs to refine his discipline, but his instincts and competitive mentality are why he is NFL-ready.

16. San Francisco 49ers: CB Jaycee Horn, South Carolina

A secondary overhaul is inevitable for the San Francisco 49ers.
Cornerbacks Richard Sherman, Jason Verrett, K'Waun Williams, Ahkello Witherspoon, Jamar Taylor and Dontae Johnson aren't under contract after this season. San Francisco will be left with...*checks notes*...Emmanuel Moseley (an exclusive-rights free agent) and current practice-squad options Tim Harris and Parnell Motley in the cornerback room.

Maybe, just maybe, cornerback will be San Francisco's primary focus next offseason.

South Carolina's Jaycee Horn brings a level of competitiveness and physicality that would be welcome in San Francisco's Seahawks-inspired defensive scheme. According to Pro Football Focus, no SEC cornerback allowed a lower completion percentage in coverage than Horn before he opted out of the season.

Plus, the son of former NFL wide receiver Joe Horn brings flexibility to any scheme. He can play nickel or outside the numbers. San Francisco will need a corner who can do it all.
Horn or Wyatt Davis are slowly becoming my guys in the first round where we will probably pick. Horn gets the edge cause he's an SC guy and we love our SC guys here lol.
