The hell are you basing this on? One game from Lance lol.

Watch the games. Fields is a natural thrower with a very strong arm. He also runs faster than Lance. He just seems much further ahead right now.

Fields was further ahead of Lance pre draft. This is not new news nor is it shocking or surprising.

A two year starter at a MAJOR D1 program with an elite resume is better prepared than a D2 guy who hadn't played in a year?

No way!

Ive said this a bunch, you had to hope Lance makes a jump to get to Fields level right now.. Then you have to hope he make another jump to get to that elite level. That is asking A LOT. From a pure athletic profile you could easily make the case Fields is more gifted then Lance. At worse Lance is a slight upgrade. But not enough to take the bigger gamble.I think Shanahan just wanted a QB he could mold into his own & wouldn't pressure Jimmy to start year 1.

I think he probably is. That's one of the things I didn't quite get when someone said Lance's ceiling was higher because the ceiling on Fields is practically through the roof. Now hopefully it is on Lance too but Fields is faster. Shiftier/more elusive I don't know who's better and don't particularly care. It's nice and a perk when a QB is already running and in the open field but it's hardly the main thing you look for. Arm strength was/is great for both of them. Fields is far ahead and accuracy right now. Now, the mental makeup is strong on both and things like touch/anticipation/reading defenses/pocket presence, that's in some ways a continual evolution for almost every QB unless and until they get it mastered. But Fields definitely is the better QB and player right now. You just hope Lance becomes who you need him to be.

I've said this before, but I believe this purely came down to personal preference. I feel that in a vacuum, Fields is better than Lance. I think he does everything Lance does, but at a higher level. Not to mention his toughness and mental fortitude which are through the roof.

But I think Kyle fell in love with Lance for one reason or another. Maybe it was something in their personal conversations, but I think they got along better. Kyle probably felt like Lance was more moldable than Fields.

Fields comes off as kind of a dick. He's very short on his words, he doesn't smile much. I can see how Kyle's personality would clash with his.

That sounds like the perfect Shanahan QB. Just like him.
I think the physical tools are close but I believe Trey has him beat in the intangibles. Both are going to be elite QB's. Trey is going to take abit longer to get there because well he got a much later start than him in most aspects. But I think Trey will be a better leader once they both officially arrive. I remember that Fields work ethic was questioned pre-draft, So have to wonder if he will get lazy down the road. Will his medical issue become a problem in a few years? There are some concerns outside his actual ability. You really don't have to worry about Trey in any regard outside of what he does during games.

Those work ethic concerns were put to bed a long time ago, my friend. And he hasn't had a seizure playing football... ever. Whether or not that played a role in his draft stock, it's hard to know.

I'm sure every team that passed him will use that as the reason why if he turns out to be great.

hmm that' a fair point. What were the concerns with him coming into the draft? His weaknesses according to the scouts?

Arm strength was questioned
Accuracy concerns
Decision making (on field)
Athleticism wasn't elite
pretty much just a bunch of b******t to knock him down as he has been the best young QB up until he potentially got exposed as a creep

Yeah, it was a bunch of generalized b******t from guys who didn't do their homework. Basically, they liked other prospects better for whatever reason. Instead of admitting that, they rather make s**t up about Watson to justify their rankings.

Same thing happened with Fields this offseason.

I can't forget all the people on here that made a huge deal out of Deshaun Watson's 49 mph velocity at the combine.

I'll be honest I think I was so crushed about beating the Rams I kinda was like f**k this draft. I wanted to trade up 1 spot for Myles Garrett or trade the pick for Jimmy G or Find a way to get Malik McDowell. So I have no real room to talk about underrating Watson

Assistant coaches and personnel people are going to be chomping at the bit to speak to Bears ownership when Nagy/Pace are fired. (Serious post, no sarcasm)
