Lance makes ZERO sense at #3

My issue with Lance is that if you draft him, you're hoping that he develops into what Fields already is right now and then shows more improvement on top of that. I also don't buy the argument that he has some enormous ceiling while Fields doesn't. I think Fields provides you much of the same upside while having a larger resume overall, having more big performances against top competition.

If Fields had gone out and only attempted ten passes against Bama in the National Championship the way Lance only attempted 10 passes against JM in the FCS Championship, people would have been losing their damn minds.

I agree with this, but also our pick is technically and hopefully sitting the first year which is why I think they can consider Lance and are checking him out. (and should)

Lance makes sense because he's the type a competitive team trades up for and gives time to develop (think Mahomes), a mid or late first team etc, but in todays world QB are valued even more than ever.

We fit the competitive mold, but we have a choice of him or Fields so like you said I think Fields makes more sense given his resume and skill set, also what we already paid to be at 3.

Not getting excited until the pick is in. I still have PTSD from the McGlinchey year.

That year hurt cause the main draft crush of the zone just got drafted to the Bears so everyone was already on the ropes. Not me I was psyched I thought we were gonna be forced into taking an all pro CB

"There's no way they're really going to draft Mike McGlinchey...right?!" - me weeks leading up to the draft

At this point that year, the McGlinchey turned into a giant s**tshow.
Yeah it started off as just this tiny snowball by Pheonix and by draft day it was an avalanche. But the hope was still to land Roq.

Define "better arm." Maybe, maybe Lance has a stronger arm. Maybe. But Fields is, as far as I can tell, clearly more accurate. And while Fields might not see a guy, a lot of times, Lance will see a guy, and then wait, and then wait, and then wait, all the while moving uselessly in the pocket, and then throw it. It appears as if he does that because he doesn't like throwing over guys in the middle of the field. Fields doesn't have that problem to nearly the same degree. He'll stare a guy down from time to time, but once he's open he'll release the ball.

That was all I was trying to say. I think Lance is a more natural thrower, with a crisper release. I'd put Wilson up there ahead of Fields as well but the difference is not significant enough to ding Fields for it. There's only a certain amount of arm strength that you really need, at some point its a matter of diminishing returns, particularly when you look at accuracy and Fields does have a significant advantage there, even with the complaints about mechanics. Phillip Rivers had some of the most jacked up mechanics I've ever seen but he could put the football on a dime forty yards away with little effort. Its like a basketball player having a jacked up shooting motion. If the ball goes in the hoop, its not a problem.

Wilson's off platform stuff is enough to make him my favorite, but I've liked Fields for a long, long time. I've wavered a few times, but I keep coming back to the fact that he has very good accuracy and toughness. I'll be fairly disappointed if we don't take him.

Of course, this will be me if the Jets take Fields and we take Wilson.

Hell, it will be me if we end up with Fields, too.

Talk is cheap, he quit Georgia in part because he didn't want to compete with Fromm of all people.

There was really no competition at Georgia. Fromm's parents were big time boosters and he was already established as the starter. No way was he getting playing time over him. I don't have an issue with guys transferring when they are being boxed in because of something other than talent and no one can argue with a straight face that Fromm is or was in anyway more talented than Fields.

I had no issue with Malik Willis bouncing on Auburn after it became clear that they were locked in on Bo Nix no matter. I wouldn't have had an issue if Mac Jones left Bama because he didn't want to wait for his turn behind Tua. I would have had an issue with him had he bounced on Bama rather than compete with a new recruit in Bryce Young. Its all about context.

The correct pick was Tremaine Edmunds but the 49ers were dead set on a OL.

First you misspelled your own username, now you're f**king mine up, its way too early on a Thursday to be this drunk dude.

Some in here need to just admit "I'm worried about Fields because Simms told me I should be."

Oh man the Tremaine Edmunds hate on the zone was good. I was guilty of hating on him just cause he wasn't Roquan.

The correct pick was to move up a few spots for a HOF LG in Quenton Nelson.

Just watching QB1 with Justin Fields in it and in the first episode he is talking about how he's competitive in everything he does. Fields may be a bust bu if there's one trait that all time greats like Brady, Tiger and Jordan all have is they are hyper competitive.

Talk is cheap, he quit Georgia in part because he didn't want to compete with Fromm of all people.

Russell Wilson transferred because Mike Glennon was chosen as the starter over him. This argument is of the same quality as the dopes who claim Jimmy is a great QB because his great team won. In other words, it's of the same quality as saying Dilfer is better than Marino.

Same as arguing the same bs what qb from this school has done anything in the NFL?

You will be eating your words when Shea Patterson puts Patrick Mahomes on the bench this year. Michigan QBs are always bestest

I hope after the 1st round of the draft Simms drops a tweet "Kyle told me his wildest dream was to get Fields. So I purposely left him low on my big board and didn't give him any hype to try and help my best friend land his dream. So happy he got his guy. Love you Kyle and remember when Lynch retires to hire me as the GM"
