Not sold on 49ers picking a WR with 13th Pick

If that is the case, why not wait till 31 to address WR then. Shanahan can scheme for Sims or Jefferson. Go O-Line, CB, or DT at 13 then?
I had to repost this just to show people how we are in a great position

Before pick 13
3 QBs
3OTs
1Edge
1LB
1CB
1 DT
1WR to be safe

So by pick 12
There's still a great
OT
DT
2 WRs

So in my opinion we can get the next best tackle to play guard or at least compete this year, tackle on defense that could replace Buckner and one of the two remaining great receivers either way were in a really good position hopefully we don't trade down more than two or three pics
I think we're fine trading back all the way to 18. The odds of those exact 16 players going in the top 16 are basically 0. There are plenty of other good prospects that teams will fall in love with so some of the top 16 guys we've identified will drop.

I wouldn't trade up unless Okudah falls. If we trade back with Miami for 18 and 56, I'd be thrilled even if Lamb/Ruggs are on the board.

Lamb has the best hands in the draft. That's a major reason why he's being compared to DeAndre Hopkins. If you take Lamb's biggest strength and give it to Ruggs, I would like Ruggs way more too. Ruggs' hands measure wider from thumb to pinky but that doesn't correlate perfectly with having the best hands.

Ruggs is the more dependable catcher statistically. Lamb does catch with his body more then Ruggs, but he was also targeted more...so i don't think much of it.

Ruggs had a 2% dropped pass rate last year (1 ball that hit his hands) , and has only dropped 6 passes his entire college career. That's 6 drops in 98 pass catches.

According to PFF, Lamb dropped 5 balls against 62 catches in 2019

Again, I get it.... Targets matter... I am not knocking Lamb, but i will stand by what i said too....

Riggs has amazing Mitts.

*edited to clear up confusing 2019 and 2018 stats.

F**k that, why pass on a complete game changer and a guy who can win his 1 on 1's? It's nice to have a wizard as coach but you need absolute studs to win these days in an offensive league. You think Mahomes is who he is and Reid without a Hill or Kelce just being on the field?

I do. Alex Smith had those guys and Andy Reid and Brett Veach couldn't get him outta town fast enough the first chance they got.
Instead of taking a WR at #13. Trade down for ~#20 plus early 3rd plus late 3rd or early 4th
Then instead of putting all your money on one small skinny fragile WR you turn #13 into these three good starters:

#21 CB Trevon Diggs (bad ass)
3rd RB/WR Antonio Gibson (bad ass WR/RB like Deebo (but faster) who can also play RB)
4th OT Alex Taylor (great looking young OT)

Take a WR at #31 Aiyuk or Mims (or trade down a little)
With other picks take best TE, then DL, LB, CB, etc

Kelce was a 3rd rd pick, Hill was a 5th rd pick.
You make my point. You don't need to take receivers at the top of the 1st round
Much smarter to trade down since there are many excellent WR in this draft between late 1st through the 3rd rd

There are and it's the reason why I won't go nuts if we don't draft a receiver at 13. But there's a reason some guys are viewed as 2nd or 3rd rounders verses a top-15 pick.

It's going to be a WR most likely, so you should just get used to it.

Every draft is different. Guys like Kelce and Hill dropped because of off field issues. Not because they weren't elite talents.

I see no reason to take a lesser talent when you need help at that position.
