I'm in the same boat. Either guy is fine with me. Even though Williams may be redundant we could trade AA or let him go next year. Another thing to keep in mind is Buckner. His contract will be up soon so if we can't re-sign him then we at least have Williams. I'm actually okay if we trade back with the Giants or Raiders because we could get extra picks and still get a good edge rusher. That's key for me. We are almost certain to get a good pass rusher no matter which way we go. Bosa may be number one for most of us but he isn't the only guy and may not even be the best. Only time will tell that.

MD, to further discuss safety... which of the safeties ranked in your top 100 do you see as good fits as a single high in our scheme?

A lot of the top guys can run. I see no reason why Abram, Adderley, CGJ, Savage, and maybe Rapp can't man the back end. I love the crop of safeties this year....a ton more than the CB crop.

You could be right on all of these. Here would be my response:
1. Burns had more pressures than any other pass rusher in last year's class, has exceptional length, and was able to stack on 15 pounds of good weight and it appears it didn't affect his agility, speed at the combine. I think his ceiling is higher than any other defender in this class. I think some team in that top 10 will be smitten.
2. While White posted an elite SPARQ score, he doesn't have elite length (compared to LVE and Leonard), doesn't have the cover skills of Roquan, and struggles with missed tackles. Traditionally, middle backers struggle to crack the top 10, and since White is not a complete player at this point, I think he falls in that mid-first round. We'll see.
3. Hollywood Brown has the dreaded Lisfranc injury, which can cause a lengthy recovery. I think that pushes him barely out of the first.
4. QBs go way earlier than expected. We could see four QBs gone in the first 14 picks of the first round. I'll bet someone moves up into the late first to get that fifth year team option.
5. Adderley may end up a first rounder, but I think slips slightly outside. Just a hunch.
6. Joejuan's 40 time was awful at 4.64, and I think teams have to seriously consider moving him to safety with a posted time in the 4.6's. He is big and physical, but I just can't see him competing against fast WRs at the next level. My notes on him are highlighted with deep speed issues. That showed in his times.
7. Bunting could go earlier. I think his window is from 65-85. I have more on the back end. Very good player. Liked his film...didn't love it. But, he is athletic, for sure. Thornhill is really productive, and blew up the combine. He is a guy I thought was really under-appreciated and under-discussed prior to the combine. I like Virginia safeties (one of my draftees from the past was Anthony Harris, who is taking over as a starting safety for the Vikings). I am just not sure where teams will want him to play,. Virginia had him all over the place. I think he sticks at SS, and believe he will land in the 75-95 slot.

True. The dropoff in DTs is pretty extreme as you head past the first round. Much more than edge guys.

I think the 49ers may go OL in round two or three, an OG to compete with Person or and OT to prepare for Staley departure. What guys do you think the 49ers may target for the OL?

As much as I love Quinnen Williams, I can't imagine John Lynch passing over Bosa for him. It would be highly hypocritical. Especially after falling short on the Khalil Mack trade, and then constantly talking in these interviews about how we need to draft an "outside presence" to compliment the defensive line.

If it's between QW and Josh Allen though, then for sure...I'm on the QW train.

Nice work MD. Question about the OTs you have ranked and how it relates to the 49ers picks at 36 and 67. I see there are a couple OTs near the 36 range.

Do either of these guys fit the profile for what Kyle wants in his OTs (think McGlinchy)? If yes, do you think either one is capable of playing at OG for a year? I ask this because you want some kind of production from your 2nd rounder, and sitting to learn behind Staley is not production. I'd hope that if they go OT with pick 36, the guy can compete for OG as we wait for Staley to retire.

At the 67 spot, you have a OT ranked exactly there: 67 David Edwards Wisconsin OT.
Does he fit the profile for a 49er OT? Not too concerned if he can play OG since a 3rd rounder can sit and learn and it won't be so bad as a 2nd rounder sitting to learn.

I really want Nkeal Harry. Need him to drop a bit. Its possible, but unlikely.
